    2 tough questions!!

Didn't quite know where to post this but still quite eye opening!!

    Question 1:
If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids
already, three who were deaf, two who were blind,
one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis, would
you recommend that she have an abortion?

Read the next question before looking at the
    response for this one.

    Question 2:
It is time to elect a new world leader, and only
your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three
    candidates.

    Candidate A.
Associates with crooked politicians, and consults
with astrologist. He's had two mistresses. He also
chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.

    Candidate B.
He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until
noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of
    whiskey every evening.

    Candidate C
He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian,
doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never
    cheated on his wife.

Which of these candidates would be our choice?
Decide first... no peeking, then scroll down for the
    response.

Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt.
    Candidate B is Winston Churchill.
    Candidate C is Adolph Hitler.

And, by the way, on your answer to the abortion
question: If you said YES, you just killed
    Beethoven.

Pretty interesting isn't it? Makes a person think
    before judging someone.
Wait till you see the end of this note! Keep
    reading..

Never be afraid to try something new.
    Remember: Amateurs...built the ark.
    Professionals...built the Titanic

And Finally, can you imagine working for a company
that has a little more than 500 employees and has
    the following statistics:
    * 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
    * 7 have been arrested for fraud
    * 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
    * 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at
    least 2 businesses
    * 3 have done time for assault
    * 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
    * 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
    * 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
    * 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
    * 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the
    last year...

Can you guess which organization this is?

    Give up yet?

It's the 535 members of the United States Congress.
The same group that crank out hundreds of new laws each year
designed to keep good American citizens in-line.

    HA!

    2 tough questions!!

    Hippie,

Actually, what a poignant post. Thank you.

One of my best friends in University (College) had all the "signs" of a Rheubella baby, because he was. His mother contracted Rheubella whilst pregnant. Everyone told her to abort because he would be "damaged."

Well, he was, he had really bad eye sight and other physical appearance symptoms, however his IQ was around 185ish.

Yes, Hippie, I agree. Never "judge a book by its cover," nor ASSUME (we know what that means...) that we know what is best.

btw, Winston Churchill was a mediocre student and a great disappointment to his family. However, he did have a huge amount of common sense and "saw" what was happening in the world around him. Hmmm.

Jay Leno's Principal (not sure of the UK equiv) counseled his parents to send Jay to "Hamburger School" to learn to flip burgers at McDonalds. David Letterman, likewise, did not do well in school and has actually set up a scholarship for "less than stellar students." (I know, these are "talk show" hosts but they are smart fellows and well paid for their work.)

Some of the most brilliant engineers and computer scientists I have worked with graduated with "C" averages from high school and University (College).

    Okay, I have pontificated enough.

I am going to end with a story I heard from a friend of mine who is in "Academia."

She said when she was taking over a certain job, she was told:

"Be very good to your A students, because they will come back and teach here,
Be very good to your B students, because they will be parent's of the children here,
Be VERY VERY good to your C students, because you MIGHT NEED MONEY SOMEDAY!!"

    :H :H

    Love,
    Cindi

Oh, and please, everyone, do not take this to heart. I think the last part really means that what your grades in school mean is nothing. What your heart, hard work and attitude in life are mean EVERYTHING. So, if your child is an "A or B" student, I am not putting them "down" I am just saying that the "average" student is also not to be left out.

Oh, and Hippie, if our Congressmen had to do what yours do debate-wise, they would be so lost!! I love how sharp your guys are, no matter what party or political affiliation. They have to know their stuff. Man. I love watching C-Span. Okay. I am a dweeb.

Wow, what an interesting read. Thanks.

BTW, where did you get those stats on the US Congress. I would love to research that further!! Seriously.

Hi Cindi! enjoyed reading your post!! just thought I'd let you know!!!.

I was very guilty of judging people in the past by my own anti-government/society ways of thinking. I'll never forget the time I was sitting in a park minding my own business and having a quite drink (non-alcoholic) when 2 policeman almost accosted me and accused me of breaking into a house. Apparently there was an alarm ringing nearby and a woman had 'apparently' seen some scruffy dread-locked, pierced, big boot-wearing 'crusty' walk by the house with a can of beer in his hand. Of course, I hadn't done anything wrong but the description was perfect (minus the alcohol). The assumption though that I was 'drinking' made things worse. People have a tendency to fear what they don't know. The criminal justice bill which was brought in about 1992 in this country by Douglas Hulme totally squashed the New-Age Travelers movement and was based on bias, media-hyped attention and ill-informed politicians who judged people totally by their choice of lifestyle.

Anyway it's always good to read your posts cindi
