Though many peoples think that we are evil. Remember...... our goverments don't always repersent the feeling of our people . We are a free people & feel that all should be free of oppression. Those that we fight want to oppresse thier fellow country men. Why can't the Arab World see this ? Is it better to be free to do what you want or be ruled by Islamic Extreamist ? I'm in AZ too so this is kind of a miserable holiday to be outside. I think the forecast is 115 degrees. We've got to celebrate being American, though, so we will hang out outside anyway, but we will just be IN the pool the whole time. DH will BBQ burgers and I will make home-made french fries. There is a little western town just north of us that does a little fireworks show so we will go watch that. It is nothing spectacular, but for our kids (only 1.5 and 3.5) they've never seen anything more elaborate so they think its pretty spectacular. LOL

I live in one of those funny towns where some developer came in and created an ?Old Downtown? for us in a spot that use to house a liquor store and a laundry mat. Too Funny! Anyway, there will be an old fashion BBQ and Fireworks in my new Old Downtown tonight. We will probably walk there.

Americans have many rights, but drinking and boating is not one of them and all children under the age of 12 must wear a life jacket in a moving boat. (at least in CA) ? Public Service announcement by Me!

Happy Independence (US) Day and Belated Canada

To all:

Any day we walk the face of this earth free s a blessed day!! Here is a prayer that some day all people of this planet will be free without fear of harm or retribution for beliefs!!

Tomorrow I get to fly home at 6:00 in the morning. (Glad to be out of AZ, geez 116 degrees, are you guys on drugs?? Oooops, nope, alcohol, and I can see why!!! Sorry, had to say that, it was tacky but my heavens I was there all week and it was HOT)

I fly into Alabama in the am, pick up something to cook, probably brisket or pork shoulder that I can cook all day in the oven without my intervention. (heh heh)

My husband has bought so many fireworks. You would not believe. People ask if we invite others besides my kids and their kids overs and I explain, "No, too much liability -- don't you LOVE IT-- and I found you cannot always trust people to watch their children anymore." We are kind of famous on our little Alababama "mountain" for our fireworks on the 4th of July and New Years....

However, if no one gets hurt (another prayer of mine)-- my husband is an ex-field artillery guy -- the fireworks will be AWESOME!!! He buys them from the factory that makes them down the road.

He uses a fuse so he doesn't have to get near them to light them and we keep the kids close so that if anything falls over, grownups get hit and NOT kids.

I am hoping to be one of the SOBER grown ups tomorrow.

Also, to any Canadians out there, a belated but much felt, Happy Independence Day to you guys, too!!

Hey Halbur... I have a soft spot for you... so tomorrow as I enjoy the PNW holiday events I'll hold you in my heart and thoughts and hope that you get some of the vibes!!!

Though... you know that scene I described... well, that's what happens here on the island.. but it's not all what I do. I can't handle all the 'get together' sh.. I mean 'stuff'. Tonight M and I hung out on our deck watching our quiet bay while half the rest of the island is doing that insane community gathering street dance thing. Don't get me wrong - I think it's great, just not my cup of tea.
Tomorrow my daughter is in the parade, I'll watch that and hang out downtown, then later again retreat to the safety of home for fireworks.

So... at about 9:30 - 10, pay attention, I'm going to be sending you the vibes of the fireworks I watch here in this sweet little bay in this most magificent corner of the world, the Pacific Northwest....

Happy Birthday America, and as we acknowledge the beginnings of our country may we also celebrate the nearing to the end of the most atrocious and reprehensible leadership our nation has ever known....
