Topa and heat surge? Just a little nervous taking the Top...
OK, just a bit nervous using a prescription. I've been on it for 8 days and this has happened twice..both times early in the day before I take the Top..I've had a heat surge..almost like someone might describe as a hot flash..a little tingly..a little scary, and then it passes. Anyone have that? -

Re: Topa and heat surge? Just a little nervous taking the To
Hi Dilayne,
I can't say that has happened. I do think I am starting to get hotflashes maybe. One thing for sure I think topa is helping me to not sweat as much like when I work out. But I am excessive in that area. You could also google search side effects of topamax and it will give you lots of info. gabby

Here's another reported side effect (reduced sweating, overheating more than usual--especially when exercising or in hot weather--feeling more flushed than normal). Best to consult your doc.

Re: Topa and heat surge? Just a little nervous taking the To
I'm taking 150mg of topa..50 in the morning and about 30 minutes or so after I take them I get that zingy zappy tingly hot feeling all over for about 3 or 4 minutes then it passes and I am ok. I take the other 100mg at lunch and I am fine. It doesn't happen every day though. Kinda wierd.

Re: Topa and heat surge? Just a little nervous taking the To
Hi Kat, did you have that surgy feeling on low doses? I was having it with the 12mg..just a couple of times. I've cut my 25mg in half because the results I'm getting on the topa are so great that I'm so concerned that I'll have to stop it before I can get through the 12 weeks..your experience is encouraging (I believe you responded to my vision post as well)..I rarely take any medication so I may be hyper sensitive emotionally to the side effects...don't want to quit pre-maturely.
