Have you ever simply walked off the job?

Accountable, I walked off my job 3 months ago after working for the firm for 2.5 years. I have no regrets and never looked back. If you are not happy and are underpaid, then you shouldn't suffer...nor should you feel like someone's doormatt. When you leave on your own terms, you feel more empowered. When looking for a new job opportunity, you need not go into heavy detail as to why you left, but certainly make it clear that the job was not a good match. You have a lot to offer and deserve to be paid adequately and with respect.

Have you ever simply walked off the job?

Well nothing. I think I jinxed my daughter's health by lying to them on Friday and deaking out early because I was furious. I had told them my daughter had a fever and I had to go. Well, guess what? She woke up totally burning up yesterday morning, and after doing everything possible to bring her fever down we had to take her to the Emergency room last night at 10:30pm. She has a Pox virus (a sister to the chicken pox) and an effected left ear. So I ended up home today.

The anticipation is killing me. I am so not taking any crap, and tomorrow will be my last day.

Yep, Accountable, I hope your daughter feels better soon and you get it sorted and your pay cheque in your bank !

I've worked for the same company for 18 years, but moved around departments, or had managers come and go and touch wood only had one bad line manager so far...she was used to dealing with school leavers, but I'd been out working since I was 15 (I was 30 by then) Ha ! she didn't know what'd hit her when she tried it on with me... she made a BIG mistake and tried to make me take the flack, NOT A CHANCE. I may have many issues, but I will not be bullied...funnily enough I'm still there and doing just fine thanks, she's no where to be seen.

good luck, we're all with you.

I will let you all know what happens. My motivation level is nothing at the moment. I should go and shower LOL! Talk to you all later, and thanks for being so wonderfully supportive!

Hey I walked off a job I'd been at for almost 29 years about a month ago. I didn't want to give them the satisfaction of giving me a hypocritical retirement / going away party. It was the best thing I've ever done for myself.......... so far. I actually don't have that feeling of dread every day when I wake up.

                            Iam

Have you ever simply walked off the job?

I walked out today. It was 5:05pm... just after a brainwashing, guilt tripping meeting. The meeting with my CEO was way out to lunch. I am still shaking my head. He offered me more money - a whole 1.50 and hour more, and this will be my last increase for a year. He was saying they are only giving raises (if earned) once a year to gage 'commitment'. IT is totally F**CKED. Zoooo-loooed! I was feeling so guilty and brainwashed I almost was going to go in tomorrow. UNTIL...

On my way out a colleague of mine asked me into her office to give me the 'heads up' that a person from a building we manage (she is on the strata council) is going to be driving from miles away to where we worked to chew me out. I prepared the month end financials for the building and I guess she was NOT IMPRESSED that I had given the agent to pass to her the WHOLE financial package. SHE DOES NOT WANT THE GENERAL LEDGER OR BANK STATEMENT ATTACHED!!! Can you believe this folks??? That is the activity report of what happens during the month with an account! She is driving 160 KMS to come and LET ME KNOW that she only wants 21 pages of financials NOT 26. I looked at Darlene in complete disbelief and said you have to be kidding me?!?! And I laughed hysterically. Darlene said to me that she had come out there three months in a row and chewed her out for not giving her the Directives she wanted ONLY. Darlene wanted to warn me she was a bitch and will chew my face off. Holy f*ck people - INSANE OR INSANE?!?! I get a LOT of crap from members on council because they don't have a f'n life and need to take their shit out on someone. It is never for a fatal error.

So I packed my desk, deleted my emails that were on a personal note and said Fu*k it. I am not going back for sure. I am taking Coward Road and sending an email telling him I am done and not returning. Yeah, I am a wimp, but it will be over with by 9am tomorrow.
