      Sorry tryingsohard... (I'm still new.)...

So - is this experience good?

I don't get it. I actually don't get a lot of these posts ... they seem to me like you're all celebrating being arseholes.

I cringe when I recall my drunken episodes .... such as they are. I really can't laugh - I was bloody awful. I feel really bad about everything I've done.

Airbag, A lot of these people here are celebrating that they are no longer at that place or stage in their lives anymore and can now look back at relief that they aren't there. It's a way of letting it all go, at least that's what I am taking from this.

Passed out smoking on the sofa and woke up next to a huge burn hole, thankfully it was flame retardant and I was still alive!!!

OK, adding my embarrassment to the pile .... I used to pee in shoes. This was some time ago (I was about to say "before the drinking got out of control", but that doesn't seem quite right).... For whatever reason, I went through a phase of peeing in shoes. I'd take them out of the closet or off of the front mat, set them up, and pee in them. No recollection, mind you ... My husband (then boyfriend - jeez, and he still married me? Oy.) told me of my stunts and washed my shoes to be ready for the day after.

Re. crapppp ... only once ... recently ... and not while drunk, but while hungover. Scared the crap out of me (pun intended) ... no really though ... It was one of the things that got me to searching online for help ... and then I found this site.

Good to hear everyone's story ... good to have a chuckle too ... and a good reminder of where we are and why we want to get cleaned up (another pun intended - heehee).

Airbag, I agree with Beeches, people are celebrating being sober. I also cringe when I
remember my awful drunken episodes. We are all different personalities, sometimes
laughing is the alternative to crying.
Welcome and keep coming back. Paula.

For me, I think it helps just getting it "out" ... so that it's not a big secret anymore... and knowing others have shared the same embarrassing moments and have gone on, or are moving forward, is an inspiration..... makes me feel not so ashamed anymore ... and gives me a little more hope that a "normal life" is out there for me ... something to work toward.

Rachel, don't take it personally, when your in the depths of despair, sometimes we
see things differently. I've read lots of your posts in the last few weeks, and it's great
to see getting better, and you have a wonderful sense of humour, just because we laugh
it dosn't mean we don't cry.

                        Errrm....

                        1) wet the bed.....yes
                        2) Number 2....Just about made it to the loo
                        3) Forgot my PIN number whilst partying in London on my 21st. Card got swallowed by ATM, had to get on the bus back home as had no money for a cab home.
                        4) Went to Barbican with hubby (then he was just my fiancee and being arranged marriage it was our first ever non-chaperoned date) for a few drinks, got completely plastered and threw up on my way to Liverpool Sreet station, at the station and on the train. God did the person in front of me get up so quick!!!

                          Hey Airbag,

We do sometimes get started on a thread like this when we recall some of our embarrassing drinking moments. It is true that if we didn't laugh, we'd cry. Having a laugh at our own expense doesn't make us less committed to our sobriety.

Also, Xtexan, I'm glad that I'm not dead and haven't killed anyone else either. There were a couple of times that my mantra driving home was just "STAY BETWEEN THE DOTTED LINES, DEAR LORD, HELP ME STAY BETWEEN THE DOTTED LINES!" Thankfully in my more recent years, if I was partying more than a mile or two from my home, I just stayed the night. (Heaven forbid I would drink less or not drink!)

Tryingsohard don't take it personally...they just happened to post near to your post so you were a victim of convenience as it were.

we should lynch the bastard that started this disgusting thread! yeah...get him!!!!!

ok, back to the concerns. I really think this kind of thread touches us because it's analgous to our love/hate relationship with alcohol. we hate to love it and we love to hate it. These experiences were so bad at the time and to be able to look back at them as a measure of our progress is truly grand. Adding the element of humor helps us to be more honest with ourselves and others as we realize it's ok to be who we are and we all share some things that just wouldn't be understood by the "normies" of the world. We are unusual and special and nobody understands us like we do.
                            be well my friends.

so many comediennes on this site.
