I called my kids Dad a few minutes ago to see where his child support was. He sends voluntarily and is not under a court order so I occasionally have to speak with him. He sounded drunk and told me he had missed some work because he had cut his face up. I have no doubt he was telling the truth. I find it frightening when I picture him doing it. Anyone heard of such a thing??? A bit scared Bird

Wow, that is scary. Could it be a cry for help? Is there someone (not you) who might check up on him?

I think that is a good idea. I have no idea what could be going on. Hope he is okay though...Keep us posted.

Is he cutting his face on purpose ?

or was he drunk and fell and cut his face ?

If the first then maybe you could ask someone to check up on him ? It is unusual for men to cut themselves on purpose so maybe he needs help soonerr than later?

If the latter, then - I've been there too!

Dear Bird,

What a painful and confusing situation you are in! I hope that your husband gets whatever kind of help (medical or psychological) he needs soon. Diamond is absolutely correct in writing that it is very rare for a man to cut himself on purpose. If this is what happened, I would be very concerned about suicidality. Sorry to burden you with another worry but he needs psychological help NOW if he cut himself intentionally.

Bird that is strange and I too would find out if he fell or did this on purpose. If on purpose he's telling you for a reason and needs some help.

Thanks for the concern. He cut himself on purpose. Not sure what with. He called today to say he'd sent his child support and I asked him about it. He made a joke about it but he has an appointment with a psych. tomorrow. I think he is in a bad mess though and needs to go to detox or something. bird

Thanks for letting us know, this is a worrying time for you, will you be able to support him or get someone else to ?
is it too much for you seeing as how he is an 'ex'?
