    wife admitted to hospital

Hablur just read your post. I work in a unit where ECT is done twice a week, I have seen so many patients make remarkable recovery after being in the depths of despair. It takes
a few treatments, which only last for a few minutes. We have a lady at the moment who
has had 6 treatments and she is so much improved already, it seems to work particulary
well in bi polar. So wishing you and your family well, and sending prayers.
    Love Paula. xx

Paula, those are such encouraging words.

Hablur - what a wonderfully supportive, understanding and committed husband and father you are. Please disregard the occasional nasty remark we sometimes make about the male of the species. :H They definitely don't apply to you.

Seriously, thank you for keeping us updated. We all care so much about you and your family. I am praying and I truly believe that this will be a major step forward.

I wish I could be there to hold your hand.
Rest in Peace, Bear. We miss you.

                **** Update ****

Woke up darned early this morning and jetted over to the hospital. Had to wait a bit for them to bring her back up to her room. She went through the procedure with flying colors! The only thing that she mentioned was her jaw was sore from clenching it during the seizure portion of the ECT.

The funny thing is that she didn't sleep a wink last night and neither did I. LOL.. we both worried for nothing, just as things normally go. Sometimes patients are able to feel something after the first one but unfortunately for her she doesn't feel anything yet, but hey thats OK. It is just the beginning. Now that she has been through the first one she isn't afraid of them and wants to get the ball rolling so she can feel better. That is very encouraging.

With Grandma here it has been a great relief. I was able to spend a quiet time with her last night at the hospital (just her and me) just relaxing and chatting. Also, Grandma is an AWESOME cook so I came home and got treated to a terrific meal. Yeah Grandma!

So all in all guys, things are looking better. Lets just hope that the treatments do work and she starts to feel better. Again, thank you all for the support. You have been really wonderful to support me and my family though all this.

My thoughts are with you. My husband suffers from depression but in no way near as bad as your wife. I can't begin to understand what you must have been going through.

What a loving person you are and I'm so pleased that the procedure was successful.

Take care and enjoy the home cooking; you deserve it.

So glad the session went well and that you're wife is positive and less anxious about the treatment now - you should also be able to relax a little now it's underway; it's out of the 'unknown' territory and in to the 'we know a little about what we're dealing with' zone now so hopefully you'll start seeing the positive results soon.

Family support is so wonderful at times like this, so wonderful than Gran's around - and that you're getting fed!

Take care, and warmest wishes , :h
