Hi MaxineAnn,
I didn't know it at the time, but alcohol was my Advil, as well. I've been sober almost seven weeks, and I have aches and pains in my shoulders too, and I am more aware of being tired and headachey at times. I think that wine was my all purpose pain killer. I didn't usually drink to the point of hangover, since my tolerance was high.
Now, I just take Advil, and those aches and pains are gone. I don't know how old you are--I'm 51, so I guess I expect to have a few aches and pains. Some may still be sub-acute withdrawal, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were there all along and you didn't notice because of drinking.
Good luck!:l

thats great with day 5. I always notice it is after day 5 I really start to feel good. (A pitiful recognition of how often it has happened). It gets better and better every day after that-Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Congrats on making it to day 5. I also can relate to the aches and pains, specifially my head and shoulders. I also grinde my teeth. Although I'm on day 27, I still wake up in the morning feeling like I was hit by a truck. I've been getting restful night's sleep, but waking up and getting started with my day has been tough because of the aches. Before going to bed last night, I took 4 Advil. I also wore my mouth guard. This morning I woke up pain free. I'm wondering if my body is still detoxing. Also, I noticed my anxiety is creeping back again. In the past, I drank to put my anxiety at ease. This time, I'm going to ride out both the anxiety and pain that I experience no matter what. For me, alcohol was one of the key things I used to supress my anxiety.September 23, 2011
