Women Who Run With the Wolves written by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D.
It has been at least 16 years since I have last looked at it, just after I started treatment for depression with the then "new and miraculous Prozac". I don't remember a lot specifically about it, many years of drinking have passed since then, I do remember that I loved it.
I do remember a poem though, from the book, that I typed out, framed and put on the wall in my kitchen. By the kitchen sink. Where I spent most of my time.
I saw myself. The Prozac had opened up the world for me, free of depression at last.
.....one night
there's a heartbeat at the door.
Outside, a woman in the fog,
with hair of twigs and a dress of weed,
dripping green lake water.
She says "I am you,
and I have travelled a long distance.
Come with me, there is something I must show you..."
She turns to go, her cloak falls open,
Suddenly, golden light.......everywhere, golden light....."
Blessings to all who are struggling,
m. xx
