Dear Hilary,

I understand your decision to take a break. I've been on something of a break myself and I've been posting infrequently. I've been finding an occasional respite from the storm through meditation.

Can't it be wonderful when husbands go away? I just tried (and failed) to get my husband away to visit his very elderly father who would very much have appreciated the visit, as I would have the space. And I too fantasize about starting a life without him but I haven't figured a way around the complications.

It sounds like your quandry about where to live has deepened. I wish you the best in finding what is right for you.

I've always enjoyed (and looked forward to reading) your warmhearted posts a and so I hope that you will check in occasionally. You are a treasure!

Oh, and one last thing. Something I had thought about while out getting groceries.

Your son, I do hope everything works out for him and you. Being deported back to Canada is better than being deported back to many other countries in the world. We aren't under any current terrorist threats, we are safe and we are free. Your son will make a great life for himself here, there is no doubt. I have heard that McGill is a desirable University and so is Simon Fraser or BCIT here in BC. Of course there is also the University of Victoria. Lots of options for this young man.

Also, I am sure over time he will be allowed to travel abroad again.

Thank you all. I will reply to the pm's a little later but I'm thankful to have them, I feel a little overwhelmed right now.

AFM, I do understand what you're saying, and insofar as I've pushed it son isn't talking to me, no worries, I was treating him like a 10 year old pushing my own agenda to have him in the Pacific Northwest. My daughter gently told me today that it's best to let him do it his own way, since control of his life has been removed by Homeland Stupidity. He is a strong boy and hope he makes a good choice.
