                  Whether it's true or not, it's sensible to check, isn't it? Doesn't mean you need to live your life in a state of paranoia though either.

                  People do tend to focus on these stranger/weirdo attacks on women, which is, in fact, a miniscule percentage of attacks on women. Still wouldn't do to warn women to stay away from their family and friends, would it, despite the chances of being attacked by them is much, much higher. Better to let everyone believe the danger is 'out there'.
