you stand with a group of other naturalized american citizens and you pledge alligiance to the flag of the united states of america. then you collect your naturalization certificate (looks like a diploma.) and there is usually a letter in there signed by the president welcoming you into the u.s of a.
the whole ceremony lasts about a half hour.

Hello and Thank you for the notes.
Trixie, there were almost 500 of us and it took forever getting processed. I got my letter and my certificate though. I went down Quincy Market and got a Hot Dog. Can't get anymore American than that right?

After that I registered to vote at City Hall, came home and took a nap. Nothing to exciting. Back in the day I would have stayed in town and got blitzed though.
