You know I think the best way to head off a mean ugly person is to turn and look them direcly in the eye and say...and an honest concerned voice "what has happened in your life to make you so mean and ugly to everyone? or why do you go out of your way to irritate me, did I do something to you?" Sometimes hitting it head on eliminates the problem.

I recommend the book "Peace is every step" by Thich Nhat Hanh. It help me with the same problem. It is not a religous book, if that deters you in any way.

I believe you should pray for them

"Lord, I know that xxx xxxxxx is a pain in the butt, but I pray he/she gets everything they deserve"

not really, but I do believe praying for them will help

Buddha, one of my favourite books is "Being Peace" by self-same above-mentioned monk. I carry it around like a bible.

Still, sometimes it's nice to tell those buggers off. How about: "I can see your point, but I still think you are full of the holy excrement that emanates from the posterior portion of the most heavenly of all bovine creatures."

yeh, I think that could work.
