    Inspirational People's Last Words

    Hello all,

The last words of some inspirational types! I would really like you all to add any others that you know of... or (with a nod to Hippy on his question of what we would say at the Golden Gate!) what your own would be!

And the point is, for all of us to remember, that whatever we are going through, whatever "sins" we feel we have perpetrated, however we have "failed", whenever we feel that we have done what we should not have, or left undone what we should have done...

In the end, at your final moment, all you will need to ask yourself is, "Did I make a difference in the world?"

The hour I have long wished for is now come.
    Teresa of Avila

If this is death, it is easier than life.
    Robert Louis Stevenson

This is the last of earth! I am content.
    John Quincy Adams

    I shall hear in heaven.
    Ludwig Van Beethoven

Light, light, the world needs more light.

    Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I am going to that country which I have all my life wished to see.

    William Blake

It is very beautiful over there.

    Thomas Edison

    Love to you all

mm sorry, I can't think of any at the moment, but just wanted to say thanks for the post. It is interesting and makes me think.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

      Hidden_Gem and Beatle,

Here are my thoughts on last thoughts.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
      Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

      Dylan Thomas

I love that poem. The words of a son who loved his father well.

Another quote I love is from an old movie, A Bridge to the Sun, when the "hero" was dying, he told his wife, "Death may be beautiful, dying is not."

Okay. Now you've got me going... I haven't thought of this stuff for YEARS.

Rage indeed - I intend to hang on in there - I can endure pain etc - who knows when a cure (for whatever I get) would come - probably the day after I kick the bucket!!

          I must be an optimist!

My own thought is that is in death we feel like we do before we are born, we don't think much about anything, until we are called into life again.

It's the dying bit thats scary, lol.

Maybe not inspirational but my favorite on his death bed. Oscar Wilde looked at the curtains and said "Either the curtains go or I do" I think we know what happened. It just goes to show that we must have a sense of humor about everything, laughter can be found in tragedy.
