my darling husband
his last words were to tell me he loved me. it was a big effort for him and he did it for me.
i dont really believe he is gone to be honest.
i thought i didnt want to be on my own, but now i feel crowded. my mum and stepfather have come over from australia and are feeling awkward.
my sister was with me before they got here and she knew exactly was needed to be done.
ive managed to boot them out of the house doing errands to give me some space.
they mean the best but dog. im worrying about whether ive let everyone know, whether the funeral will go ok, whether anyone will turn up to the wake. im stressing about the bloody recycling for dogs sake!! im on the edge alright, the tightness in my chest wont go away and i feel sick.

Oh Roxanne
I am so sorry to hear this. I know how much pain you are in. Not pain actually, shock. Just know how much we all have big arms around you and are giving you hugs and support.
My niece died of cancer in June, and it was, and still is, so hard for us all to wrap our brains around the fact that she isn't here. If you want to pm me, please feel free to do so.
The days ahead will be kinda surreal, with all the "bussiness" of things. But when you have your moments in the times ahead, remember you are not alone.

Hi Roxane, :l
It will all be all right.
I felt like that when my mom died, anxious, and I couldn't let it go.
Can you get to see the doctor?
Can you get your sister back?
Oh, sweetheart, call your sister back to take care of you.
We are all thinking about you Roxane. You're one of ours.

Roxane! I just found this thread, and want to add my very best wishes for your comfort while facing this terrible grief. There is simply no quick and easy way through the pain, is there? But, oh, what a lucky woman you are to have had the love of your life for the time you did! So many women never find true love. You had it, and it can never, never be taken away from your heart.
Your comment about sleep and dreams being no comfort made me recall Christopher Reeve's biography, which he dictated after his tragic paralyzing fall from his horse. He said a similar thing: he'd go to sleep and have wonderful dreams about riding, skiing, playing tennis---so vivid and real. Then upon waking he'd "learn" all over again that he could never do those things. I imagine it's about the same for you. But (as we can't regulate our dream life) why not try and think of these dreams as your darling's way of being with you again? Who knows?
I am crying as I type this. I think every one of us here knows this will happen to us in some fashion, if it has not already, and we watch people like you to learn how it's done.
It sounds as if Ade went "gentle into that good night", more at peace for having been able to tell you he loved you. My prayers are with you, and with his soul. Remember the verse from Isaiah: "They shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." I know not everyone believes this, but my faith is that we will meet our very dearest again one day.
May God bless and keep you.

jane, you made me cry.
we had that special love thats for sure, we had never felt this way about anyone else. did i say that already? and you are right, it was incedible to have him love me.
the funeral is on monday, bonfire night over here, lots of fireworks. Ade was mad for them, those huge 'cakes' that can hold 100 plus. weve got one of those and some huge rockets. he would have loved them. maybe he will.

Roxane,
It sounds like a fitting celebration of your husband's life and I agree with jane that despite the pain you are lucky to have had that kind of love. I hope that will be of some comfort as you move through the grieving process.
Will also be thinking of you.

roxane, I am so sorry for your loss. Your words of true love are so very touching. I can barely imagine what having that kind of love feels like - much less understanding the depth of grief to lose your love. Am thinking of you...the fireworks and cake sound like a very special thing.

Roxanne - I do hope Monday goes as well as it can and that, in fact, it is 'lovely' for you...good memories and wonderful fireworks!! Every time I see a rocket I will think of Ade and you...
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
