Java for New Chat - help?!

Can anyone 'hold my hand' about downloading Java? I still can't get into new Chat and want to for today's 'seminar' with RJ....

I get a bit concerned about downloading stuff without reassurance that it wont blow my 'life' - which is stored in this beloved little box on my lap!!!

Can anyone tell me 'which Java' I should have? I have it on here but clearly not the right one or something - even with updates...nothing. Or is it to do with this 'cookies thing' - which if anyone can explain in words of one syllable....I'd be ever so grateful!!

Hon, if you go on line and type Java there is a very user friendly version that pops up. Don't use what comes up on the chat line. Just get online, search for Java and pick a free one, it's really a piece of cake hon.
