    ANTABUSE

Does anyone know how long it takes to leave your body once you have been on it for a month? I was thinking of taking it to achieve my 30 days, but wondered whether I would be able to drink at Christmas (if I decide that's right for me by then).

I've heard it takes 2 weeks. There are forums on this if you google it. There has also been discussion about it in the meds forum.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

If you take the drug as prescribed every day [500 mg], you need to give your body 10 days to get rid of the Antibuse before you drink...

I just started taking it a couple of days ago. I decided not to take it today because my face is so itchy and deep dark red bumps all around my eyes. I read that this could be a side affect. If there is any alcohol in any of your personal products that you use on your face and body, it could get worse. My doctor told my that this could last up to 2 weeks after stopping the medication. So, I feel that would be the same amount of time for drinking as well.

        Be careful and good luck.

Hello Cooking. Why don't you just stay sober? Is your family a bit messed up? I would love to go see my family, but they all drink, and I don't think I can handle them if I were sober. I miss them so much. We have so much fun around the holidays. But, I'm a drunk, so I can't be around that. My goal is to be at the point where I can be comfortable around people while I'm sober. It's going to a be a long journey.
          where does this go?

he he, good point St Jude!

I think we've all dealt with, or are dealing with, this family and socialising problem. Yeh, why don't we just abstain? Well, I want a magic pill that makes me do it and makes me want to do it, but why can't all those others just NOT drink too. Wouldn't that make it all so much easier?

Okay Jude. It just sounds like this is premeditated. I guess I don't get that. To actually plan on drinking is something I just don't get. I guess we all have different levels of our problem. If I drink one beer, it is going to turn into 30, and I'll be an embarrassment. That is where I'm coming from. Sorry for being a dummy.

That's OK... It's pretty much a common condition for me too! :H

The Families & holidays are always a challenge it seems... Lord, give me strength. (and not just in a drink!)LOL
