Ok, I HATE shopping, but I was conned into going with a friend to Kmart tomorrow morning. She's dying to get a Wii and they have some there for sale on Thanksgiving day. I'm getting up at 4am with a thermos of coffee. I'm going to hate her when this is done.

The woman on the phone at the store said don't bother getting in line if there are more than 20 people. I really hope there's more and then I can go back home and go to bed!

Okay, okay....

I think I'm getting a reputation for being a shopping freak, and in reality, the other 364 days of the year, I hate shopping! We just love going out with the kids that day, getting out of the house after being cooped up all Thanksgiving, and we just browse, watch people, eat lunch out and basically let the kids shop. They love it! I have no intention of buying anything other than Starbucks and lunch! I actually finished my Christmas shopping about a month ago, so now its all just the fun of the season. Like I really need to eat out the day after Thanksgiving, but its a tradition!

I did get up at 4am and we went to Kmart. We were about 15th in line! I think some of the people must have slept overnight! Anyway, Kmart only had 4 Wii's, so of course we didn't get one. Oh well, it was an adventure anyway.

I did head out to 2 stores and glad I did. I bought:

blender/food processor because i broke the glass handle on my last one

some organic cucumber lotion that is yummy

yellow ducky christmas ornament. duck is wearing a red santa hat. very cute!

a macrobiotic cookbook by kushi that i am excited about

a huge and heavy coffee table book on trees. just gorgeous!

another huge and heavy coffe table book called the Cabinet of Natural Curiosities. I have wanted it forever. it is by albertus seba and is one of the most prized natural history books of all time. it is drawings of animals, plants, insects, shells, butterflies, flish, dragonflies, birds, etc. The 449 illustrations are so beautiful. i love this book so much i want to sleep with it. It is a $200 book and I got it in perfect condition @ Barnes & Noble for $24.99- prior to my membership discount and another 25% coupon that came in the mail. I am stoked!

the other day i bought this collector edition of the children's book, the secret garden by frances hodgson burnett. it was my favorite book as a kid and i am reading it again now. it has the most beautiful illustrations. the book is magic. it has a lot of spiritual learnings tending toward the mystical. i am savoring the book and all the annotations in this edition about her life and other things. she would not read the paper because it created unhappiness. i feel that way about the news often. if something really bad comes on regarding animals i either turn the channel or i cannot find the remote quickly enough i talk through the segment to avoid hearing the details. feels like i am protecting my soul that way.

anyway, as you can tell, i just love my books!!!!

Well, well, well....so all you guys think about is shopping or not on black friday. What about us poor people that actually work on that dreaded day? I got up at 4:30 for all you non shoppers and lookie lou lou's. And people that wanna get all the deals and push and shove and be rude. It's amazing that if they hate is so much why are they here. Occasionally ya get a happy shopper that is actually having fun and is fun to work with. Oh well my 16 hour shift is almost over.

and oh.....lucky and lushy......I havent forgot you! ; )
