    RIP John Lennon

    Died 9th December, 1980.

He was my hero - funny amazing guy with lots of real bad sad issues - I have based my life on his (without the fame, money, adulation etc).

Where did I go wrong (no talent perhaps).

    Anyway, loved him lots.

    RIP John Lennon

Wow, Cash. Thank you for the reminder.
I heard 'Imagine' on the radio just this morning. Still gets me every time. A beautiful soul. A sad and much too early loss for humanity.
I, like most people I'm sure, remember exactly where I was when I heard the news.
    A terrible shock.
God bless, John. We miss you.

He was definitely a talented artist. Such a loss to the world when he was killed. I was 8 when he died, and didn't know much of him. I do remember my mother crying when watching the news.

        Thanks for the reminder Cashy.

I'll never forget that night - alone in a crappy apartment with nothing but a little radio. I cried all night. The next day I hopped a train to the city and hung out near the Dakota with thousands of others - crying more. What a terrible memory of a beautiful life.
Rest in Peace, Bear. We miss you.

          He was my hero.
My first thought when I heard the news was the loss of all the music to come..........he had just started composing again. I died a little that day.

Coincidently, I later married; my husband met and talked to John and Yoko on the streets of NY. One of the high points in his life.

          happy holidays

            RIP John Lennon

I was only 11 but I was sooooo into the Beatles, and then Lennon - thanks to my parents. I was the strange kid at school who preferred them to Duran Duran (gross!). I cried so much at school they all thought i'd been expelled. Not a good day. But it's good to remember...

There is no doubt that Lennon was an amazing talent that helped change music forever. His phylosophy of Peace touched many of us. It was incredibly said to loose him so senselessly and violently. But his music will live on indefinitely!

                I remember it well.
That was the year I moved into my tree-house in Colorado.
Thanks for the reminder Cashy...:l I love so many of his songs.

                especially "Imagine"

Happy Christmas - War is Over: they all still resonate, that song in particular given current events. He captured things so well - I only wish his messages had gotten through.

hummmmm, just curious, how and why to you model your life after a celebrity that you do not know? Please do not take offense....just curious?

                              RIP John Lennon

No offense taken Kate - i was joking! You can't base your life on anyone's but your own - but i liked him (from what I saw - and I watched alot of footage!) cause he was funny and witty and wrote great music and seemed (and who's to say if he did or not) to care about stuff like war and not having it. i also had a big crush on him which helps my husband even looks a bit like him (in his beatle phase) which has nothing whatsoever to do with me marrying him at all, not one bit (!?). He seemed to have a few issues around drinking and smoking and doing other things and stuff like depression too, which i kind of relate to much more now (when younger i just did all that with no thought whatsoever). But I really loved the music, and i guess he was a pretty real guy for a celebrity - they don't make them like that anymore - and by real i mean he seemed to let you see his personality like it or lump it - and i like that as well.

I don't think i'm going to shack up in the Dakota with Yoko in a hurry, but in a way that music helped me through alot of things in my youth and even now, and a bit of hero worship (off in the twilight zone my friend and i used to call it - she was seeing Ringo!) never hurts (as long as you know that it is the twilight zone!).

Ahhh, the nights we never had together.....they were great

I'm smiling just thinking about it - he really was my hero! Now reality has hit with "adulthood" so i'm not modelling anything on him...well maybe a few sarcastic and clever asides when I can come up with them!

Hope that clears it up for you, but thanks for the question (cause I guess what I wrote could look a bit silly!) and you've made me smile, really smile, for the first time today, thinking back about all that.

                              Lotsa love
