CHAT ACCESS HELP PLEASE

Hi all,
I haven't been able to get into chat for ages! (as in a couple of months)
My computer hates me. The internet hates me, and I do not see this as a challenge but as an electronis plot to send me round the twist!
RJ sent me instructions to alter my settings: Tools Internet Settings Security "Allow software to run. and other instructions. Did all that but it still blocked me.
Rang a friend just now who told me to add MWO as a trusted site. Just done that, though the computer asked me for https rather than http
Still didn't work. I still get the windows has blocked active X message!
Are there any computery people out there who can help me with this??
It's very frustrating, and I don't know about computers and I find all the boxes a bit confusing. I don't have super security on my computer so I can't see why i can't get in.
And some members probably think I'm rude for not chatting. So apologies to all.

CHAT ACCESS HELP PLEASE

I don't know what it is, Rags, but it could be as simple as having a pop-up blocker turned on. (That hasn't stopped me here, but if I am to get on another site I use and be able to work on it, I have to turn off the pop-up blocker.) If you have someone who knows what they are doing, they may just need to come and play with your computer themselves. It is so hard for someone else to talk you through this (as I know from experience).

Rags, I am having the same problem. I didn't have a problem until I switched over to vista and then I have so far been blocked out. I have also tried everything I know to do and I am an electronic technician. It is definately a software catch that is trying to protect you from outside computers; but I can't turn it off either. I hope someone has an answer; I haven't been able to chat since the new chat was started.

I've just spent an hour on the phone trying to sort it out with a friend ...... updated all my windows, lowered the security, took off block pop ups, but I just cannot activate it. Short of dismantling the computer and taking it to computer hospital I am really stuck. Even remotely handed control of my computer to her (she's a good mate near Inverloch) to see if she could sort it. So, does this mean I will forever more wander the corridors of the subscriber arcade??

I am concerned about all the lowering of security, etc, to handle this issue. There is a reason the security settings are what they are.

Okay. What operating system are you using? Bear mentioned Vista, is that what you are on?

I am, despite what Flip says, a unix weenie, and not a Windows person but figure we are intelligent people and can figure out what is going on.

Let me know what operating system and what version of IE (or are you using FireFox?)
