    blackout/passout?

lukalee33 did you have hangovers once you got to that stage, I stopped getting hangovers and could function really well the next morning. My friends would be wrecked but I was ok really, I think it's just I had built up a tolerance like you say for the huge amount I was drinking on a daily basis don't you.

          blackout/passout?

im so mad, i wrote a long response and it got deleted by myself accidentally. so i dont have the patience to write another long one. but CK something i just wanted to tel you that that happens to me almost everytime i go out on a friday or sat night. i cant remember the end of the night, going home, etc. usually. or its very blurry that i certaintly dont remember exactly conversations. usually when my bf and i have gone out inthe past, i dont remember walking or going home. its so damn shameful and embarassing. when ive gone out with my firends recently, i think i consciousally maybe didnt drink as fast bc i knew i had to keep more control being with them, rather than my bf since we're like brother and sister and i know nothing bad would happen. i barely go out with friends anymore since i had a bf, and since being with him who is an everyday drinker, my alcohol problem has worsened, so i cant say what would happen if i went out with friends everyweekend and blackout. scary. dont know... but anyway, just letting u know i know how u feel. some people dont get blackouts as much. ive rea that the more u have them, the more prone u are to having them easier also... i also think nutritional deficiency MAY have something to do wtih it. i have loads of health problems besides alcoholism. ok, i cant write anymore since my last post was so damn long and mor mof my life and feelings and it was deleted! talk to u laters

            blackout/passout?

I started getting blackouts during the last year of my drinking career. To me, it was a sign that I was getting near the end of the alcoholic road. Of course I figured this out in hindsight.

ACK!! Thankful.......that was way scary!!!!!! I just read that......OMG!

                Ether effect

AL does the same thing to us as ether (ethyl alchohol)... When given enough, it puts us out. Considering they used to use ether to put people out to perform surgery *gasp*, imagine how it can put us out...

(Gee, maybe I did learn something in those AL classes for my DUI *smirk* )

                    blackout/passout?

                    Thankful,

Thank you for the post. I printed out the article for both of my children and saved it to disk for myself.

I black out EVERY TIME I drink and so does my daughter. I am not sure of my son. He and his wife will not drink until their boys are in bed.

                    Again, thank you!

                      blackout/passout?

See I used to wonder which was worse, remembering everything that I did the night before, or blacking out and remember hardly anything??? I still don't know the right answer to that one. I do know however that the last couple of months the blackouts have escalated to the point where I have woken up the next morning in bed totally naked not even remembering going to bed let alone taking my clothes off :scratchinhead:

just imagine if I hadn't been at home :egad:

and no it wasn't hubby that helped me cause he stop helping me long, long time ago - so yea the blackouts are pretty much what has convinced me it's time to end my so called grand ole drinking career

                        blackout/passout?

I've had blackouts, too over about the past year. VERY scary and embarrassing. My husband will tell me about something I did or said the night before, and I will have no clue what he's talking about. It's so hard to pretend that you remember. I think that maybe if you drink too much too fast (I drink mine straight, no mix - just a large gulp at a time - then another - then another -- well you get the idea). So, I think at some point it just "kicks in" and it's been too much for the body to take (and I'm a petite person). Anyway, I'm not sure where to post what, but saw this post and decided to put in my $.02 worth. Also, regarding the article referenced above, I work for neurologists -- and they don't seem particularly sympathetic to alcoholics. They'd send them (us) to a shrink. Also, as a side note, we do prescribe Topamax for seizure patients - and it's hard on the kidneys, so you need to stay very hydrated if you're on it and be mindful of kidney stones developing. I tried it once, and found the blurry vision and numbness annoying, so I stopped taking it (and I could get it free!)
                        Thanks for listening :new:

                          blackout/passout?

yeah, the blackouts for me happen when i drink fast.. l noticed that.. bc one day, i happened t odrink slow towards the end ( since ive almost become able to control my drunk states!).. and i was SHITFACED. iknew it.. very drunk.. but drank so slow towards the end when i was already very drunk instead of goggling them down like i usually do, and remember details of the whole night.. but i was soo drunk. there are other times where i know ihavent been as drunk as i was that night, but couldnt recall what had happened. they say and i saw it that night, that the faster your bac rises, ur more likely to blackout.

thankyouthankyouthankyou for this thread. Any weakening I was feeling before reading this is now gone. I am so mortified by all the gross mem:goodjobries that came flooding back after reading this. I want to forget them, but I want a thousand times more to not ever have any new ones!

I believe it has something to do with how quickly you drink... but what would I know I black out a lot.

                                blackout/passout?

Funny enogh I blacked out a month or so ago.

It was after a period of low consumption, and abstinence..

My tolerance was down and I drank the same amount I used to when I was drinking heavily.blaaam I was wasted just after 4 glasses, passed out, and woke up feeling awful.
