    Exhausted..but need to exercise

Hi Thankful: first off, you are amazing in your 30-plus days
Is there a Y nearby you? I joined the Y recently, it's usually the cheapest fitness center option around. for me it helps to get in there with others, and at the Y, there are people of every age and body type, not so many gym rat types. getting a little cardio usually makes people feel less lethargic.
:boxer: Get the hell out of my house, Al, you worthless bastard!!

      Exhausted..but need to exercise

HI Thankful...and congrats on all those AF days!!

I too have been having a tough time getting my motivation back for exercise, but I used to exercise religiously for years and if felt so wonderful!! Yes, starting is the hardest. I will tell you what helped me tremendously was 1) Joining a gym and 2) going with a friend.

Joining a gym helped because once i knew I was paying, I felt I had to use it...at least this got me initially going. Once there, I met friends in classes that kept me going...we motivated eachother. Also, by doing classes, I had someone else (the instructor) telling me what to do and how long to do it! I think I am inherently lazy and need someone to structure my workout for me. I also found the classes fun! Oh, and a gym would solve your problem of the unsafe neighborhood!

      good luck!

        Exhausted..but need to exercise

Now that I don't drink anymore I am NOT TIRED. Before, I thought I had leukemia. So exhausted I was told the same old shit, go exercise you will get energy. Bull shit! You are tired for a reason, ... it takes time to recover from this demon. I would just wait until that moment comes and you will know. 35 DAYS! you are on your way girl. Keep It Up, it will get better.

        Hugs~

          Exhausted..but need to exercise

Hi Thankful...you're doing great! WOW 35 days...I'm only on 12 and have been SO tired, but I have to agree with Miss Oct. I have been forcing myself to go to the gym this week and although I've been pretty much sleep walking through everything. I feel like I might be finally coming back from the dead. I'm really not doing much at all (I find the cardio helps the most...I just make sure I use machines that I won't fall off if I close my eyes!!) And I've only worked up to about 15 or 20 minutes (and you're talking to an ex-exercise-a-holic!) So after you've ruled out any other physical problems...just try to do a tiny bit at a time. 5-10 minutes to start. I hope you find some energy!!!
It's personal, myself and I, we've got some straightening out to do. And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket but I've got to get a move on with my life.
It's time to be a big girl now....

            Exhausted..but need to exercise

You guys are awesome!! Still get blown away by how complete strangers take time out of their day to help other people.

You are all right on different levels. I needed to see what others were thinking and going through so I could try to do some sort of self analysis. I do not have medical ins so going to a dr now is out. I do however donate blood a couple of times a yr, so I imagine they would tell me if something drastic is going on. I know they do not test for everything and a dr would test specifically for exhaustion, but when someone mentioned low iron it rang a bell. Once, a few yrs back I donated and they said I could not donate for a few months because I tested too low for iron. So that could be a factor. Can't believe I forgot that.

Niblet, thank you for the invite to Focus on Fitness. I think I will be taking you up on that soon.

Lakota, thank you for the tips on when to excersise and when to take supps. I still have to get on a proper eating schedule. I have to force myself to eat many times, because I'm so used to eating 1 maybe 2 meals a day. I just can't do 3 meals and snacks. The stupid thing is, that I've proven to myself in the past that the more I eat the more weight I lose. It just seems like too much and I just don't get that hungrey. I know vitamins and supps have to be taken with food, but sometimes I don't remember to take them because of not eating the same time each day. I have to be a lot more diligent in this department.

Miss Oct, thanks for taking so much of your time to try and help me. And you are right, I know. I used to excerise like crazy about 17-18 yrs ago. Twice a day! And if 4:00AM was my only time to fit it in, then that's when my crazy ass got up. I did the aerobics, weight lifting, circuit training, running, you name it. My head was messed up then too, because I constantly thought I was fat. Had a boyfriend always telling me I was fat when I was a size 1-3. My "fat" jeans back then were a size 5! I would kill to have had a better self image back then, because I know it still affects me today. He thought by telling me I was fat, he was motivating me to keep working out. One day I just gave up working out, because I thought, if I'm killing my self and I'm fat anyway, what's the point. I loved all the free time I had when I gave up working out. And guess what filled in that new found free time? You guessed it, alcohol.

I'm going to try to chart out a new plan. (I need to see things in print). I will utilizing all of your suggetions. You have all helped me tremendously. I just have to act on this great information given. Nothing worhwhile is ever easy, huh? :thanks:

            Love, Me

              Exhausted..but need to exercise

I find a tradmill to be the easiest thing to do when I have no energy . Just start walking slowly as your heart rate slowly increases you will get more and more energy. I put my portable DVD player on mine with headphones so I don't hear the noise of the machine and get to watch a movie or a program on DVD.

If you eat fruit just before you exercise you will have more energy, and of course drink lots of water.
