I know you and Scott looked at every option before you had to do this. You'e a good mom to those dogs and sometimes moms have to make hard decisions.

What happens to the animals if no one adopts them? Do you think you'll go get Sammy back if they decide to euthanize him? Does the shelter let you know before they do?

I guess the other dog must really feel "alpha". He won the fight! Sammy's gone and he is still there

Awww Judie,
I`m so so sorry, but of course you did the only thing you could do, before one of the dogs killed the other, or was destroyed due to having attacked someone who intervened to separate them. I know none of this makes it hurt any less though. Thinking of you. :l

Sorry, I was just asking... she didn't have to get snippy/snide, but she's hurting so hope she's better soon.

It's not like euthanization isn't a part of reality when they can't find a home for animals.

I would think you would want to know what the shelter does "in the event"... I know in some counties, the time limit is 30 days or less and if they can't find him a home you may want to go and retrieve him and try the advice that was posted about how to stop dog fights.

I still think it's great that you put the well-being of humans over your love for your animals. A lot of people do just the opposite.

I am going through a mourning over my kitties, and the heart ache is awful.

I don't think I'm lacking any compassion. I asked some very reasonable and relevant questions. Really, I'm surprised that Jude hasn't asked these questions herself of the shelter. It's clear she hasn't, though, because if she had she would have answered me.

I would want to know what the procedures of the shelter are before I dropped my beloved pet off there concerning euthanization.

No one wants to think of their animal being put to sleep, but when you take them to a shelter and they go un-adopted, the probability of that happening is very high.

She should at least find out.
