Yeah K8 thats pretty much how I see regular drinkers. Round and round they go. Its foolish. Lol matter of fact its just about the dumbest shit I've ever seen (I can say that now that I'm on the outside looking in). Hence my contempt. Again that dosen;t come from being on a high horse or soap box or anything. I'm just mad that drinkers try to make us feel like theres something wrong with us for not being like them. I'm also mad at myself for taking so long to see the truth here.

Yep, I call it grateful!! The more I dwell on my gratefulness and how truly horrible drinking is, the more comitted I am to living life as a non-drinker!A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes~Cinderella

Day 31 and Beyond: Hello, I'm a non-drinker
Yes...
Drinkers don't have to have a reason or an excuse to drink.
But Non-Drinkers have to have a reason or an excuse to not drink.
I am going to use "Because I don't want to" Love that!
Det - Congratulations? on finding the skankiest motel...hope your smeller goes on the fritz as long as you need it to. Have you ever used a netipot, I use it for allerygies and cold sinus clearing. You basically dump saline water though your nose and sinus cavities. Hard to get used to but once you do it sure feels good.workout:chick:mwo2
It's my world to make now...cuz I found my way out.

Det, I do hope you are out of that awful motel by now... did you demand another room?
And I agree with you, Beck's story rang all kinds of unpleasant bells for me... just the idea of BEING in one of my usual liquor stores right now gives me a very bad feeling, and getting rescued by the sight of that old guy... who could be any of us, given a little more time, and a little more drinking... geez it gives me a scare, of the good kind.

Beck,
Good for you walking out of the liquor store!! That is sooooo close! I had a similar experience, only I drove into the parking lot and just sat their for a few minutes. Then, I felt physicly ill. I drove home, really shaken up! I came here and went into chat. Chief said, next time you get in your car, in fact, everytime, picture me in the passanger seat next to you!! We are always with you Beck!! Good Job!

Day 31 and Beyond: Hello, I'm a non-drinker
Having serious issues with my Internet, so will make this brief for now. I wanted to tell you about my wedding weekend. Had a wonderful time, saw lots of family, did some sight seeing, of course the wedding was beautiful. But the best part was, I got a surprise phone call from my great "MWO-Cyber-Friend"--Living Free! She was close by, but we couldn't make connections. It was wonderful talking to her, it was like I'd known her for years!
Anyway, I didn't drink Thursday or Friday--even though EVERYONE else was--I didn't WANT to. I had 1/2 glass of beer at the wedding reception, and a glass of wine for the toast. Then when everyone insisted on going to a "Ribfest" I nursed one of those HUGE beers Believe was talking about for a couple of hours. Didn't even enjoy it--was a waste of $5. No one gave me a hard time when I drank tonic and lime at the restaurant-which was nice (and surprising).
I'm kinda bummed I can't keep adding the AF days (69), but I think I'm almost where I want to be. Oooh, I can see some of you shaking your heads! I have rad enough horror stories on here to know I need to be careful. I feel so much like Believe describes, and I too like being sober, it feels good!! Hell, I could be the poster child for MWO!!:H:H:H
Just kidding, I'm really not that cocky. Just wanted to let you know my experiences, and when they get my satellite realigned, I'll be back!!_______________

Kate, Thanks for the advice. Just a moment of insanity on my part followed by a moment of clarity. I'm thankful no real harm came of it. But yes, I did feel physically ill for a few moments afterwards. MWO - we're all in this together - alone.
LVT, welcome back. Glad you had a nice time and are a happy sober person. I'm not shaking my head. I know some regain control.Beck

Day 31 and Beyond: Hello, I'm a non-drinker
Right on LVT. I've noticed people tend to give you less of a hard time when you say you do drink but you don't happen to want one right now than they do if you just plain say you dont drink.
But I think you're donning the gleaming armor of indifference that extended periods of af time gives us to gaurd against social pressures to drink.
You like being sober. You nursed a beer and weren't drawn back to the darkside. I don't see how re-setting your af days can possibly overshadow the ass-kicking you gave al!
Haha Det I'm glad you like my saying. That really is how I feel though looking at someone clutching their uber-gulp sized beer and looking at me like I have a pair of horns when I say I don't want one of my own. Anyway, get to feeling better man! Watch those skank-o hotels!
