I am proud to have finally earned a spot on this thread with such illustrious people of distinction. I am marvelling at your insightfullness. This is a tender and fragile journey we are all on; I would just like to say that because of you wise souls, my tools for this fight have become keener and sharper with every passing day.

went to my doc today for some cream for this nasty rash on my face and he asked how my drinking was doing. He was really pleasantly surprised to hear this is day 210.

What a great post! Made me laugh and cry at the same time! You make some valid and spot on observations about the evolution of this site. This site is first and formost to stop the abuse of alcohol and anything and everything else truly is secondary to that one purpose!

I had an interesting conversation with one of the members here with a lot of time behind her. She is a dear soul and I truly respect the person that she is. Her honestly and sincerity made me appreciate her even more. She told me that she originally came her to learn how to "Moderate", (so many of us did that!), but, over time, she realized that moderations does not work for her. She has tried AF several times and then began drinking again. She said that after several attempts at AF, she realized that she could not completely "commit to AF", but she decided to stop posting regarding her ups and downs with ALL, but rather to stay out of conversations regarding alcohol for a while. She said she feels like a hypocrite trying to advise others on alcohol, so she refrains from doing so. But her posts are brilliant, her sense of humor is just what I need on any given day. She is a perfect example of one who is not quite there as yet, but, is a huge asset to this place!

and regarding the rash. NO I was not looking for love in all the wrong places at burning man LOL! it was something I got prior to that and I'm sure that 5 days of blazing sun and dust was not a big help.
hey, I just heard today from a cop locally that more than 400 people at burning man had to be hospitalized for dust inhalation! icky!!!! that's why I brought dust masks along.

regarding the dynamics of the site, I'll always be deadly serious about my fight with al, while by the same token I obviously do cherish my humor-time as you've all noticed
chat is often silly but when something al related comes up it's "atten-shun!" all hands on deck.

Just so you know, now that my computer is fixed, in all my spare time, when I should be finishing projects I started, starting new projects, cleaning and cooking, and doing laundry, I am reading this thread from start to finish! Whew! I've read some of it before when I first started, but it really is quite interesting.

LivingFree: thanks. There are some wonderful people here who have been very supportive; I feel as if I've made some friends, and sure as hell don't want to leave them. And, to everyone who's been in this good discussion today, it's been interesting and illuminating. And perhaps it is just from my limited perspective, but I think I am already beginning to see a shift in the posts, with more committed and long-term AF people doing a bit more posting, a bit more welcoming of newcomers and people in distress. It feels really good. I am feeling a greater sense of community.

I am here for support and hopefully can offer some support to some along the way. If I make a difference in one persons life someday as some of you have made in mine, then I accomplished my goal here. I am a non-drinker and would have helped one other person in the world. What more can you really ask for? FOR ME, seeing many of you succeed in your new lives and STANDING your ground, has adjusted my thinking and actually eased my path to sobriety. AND trust me that not only effected me but every single person that loves me or is in contact with me on a daily basis...lots of folks! Thank-you for your welcomes...

Liv - I've missed you so much! :l I got detoured with a family thing and then other stuff ..... still settling back in really. Hope we get a chance to really catch up one day soon, okay? Maybe a thread party in chat this weekend?

I always know you're out there SOMEWHERE - and that makes me happy .

So good to see all the foxy non-drinkers in the house!
