This is really awful, such uglliness and violence. It almosst makes me wonder if things really weren't better in 1968, when everyone just sat around and hit the bong. I am NOT making lightly of this, but since alcohol has become the DOC on campuses, violence has gone way up. Alcohol makes us all ugly, whether we realize it or not. I'd be willing to bet the 6 were drunk at the time, or at least boosted by beer. My thoughts are with your friends son.

It was 3:00 in the afternoon. They may have been on drugs, but were not drunk. We can't blame ol' AL this time. Would be nice, but I think there are just some mean, ugly people.....scarey, but true.

Luv, I am so sorry for what happened. The way things are today those boys may be kicked out of school if charges are brought. Colleges usually take this type of behavior very seriously. I hope your friend prosecutes them to the fullest extent of the law! Gabby

The boys ARE all kicked out of school!!!! That happened immediately. They have ruined their futures...so sad! AND my friends son is out of school for about a year...he will have to have several surgeries.

OMG Luv, that is HORRIBLE! That really scares me, as my son is off at college too and my daughter leaves for college this Fall. As if the University shooting wasnt scaring me. I too would be going insane if that were my son. I hope your friend's sue each and every family who's son was part of this crime and wind up with more money than they know what to do with, and that this college student can retire in luxury and never have to step foot on a campus again.

My daughter got her acceptance today from the University of Illinois. She is not the least bit concerned about what happened, in fact, she says she feels safer because security will be tighter there now. She was to find out her acceptance to UF as well, but she cant remember her password for her login... and they wont send her another one. Talk about a stressed daughter!

I have been thinking about that college incident all day. Presty, don't worry, she'll be fine.

Luvuall, It really is so disgusting that these things happen, I've watched beatings on tv on the news when are lucky enough to get it on video and they are impossible to watch, the fact that people have the capacity to even do it is so scary. One wrong kick or stomp to someone's face or head and they are GONE!

These kids don't get it, and I guarantee you, not ONE of them would have done it if all the rest weren't there. Gang mentality isn't just for gangs. College guys drinking or on drugs get all pumped up like assholes, just to please each other or prove they are cool, do things that are unimaginable and so idiotic and they will so regret it later on in life. I swear sometimes i think we should all wait a few years before we go to college, most people don't even know what they want to do yet anyway and end up wasting money and time and their livers. Luv, please give your friend my best, and know i am so sorry what happened to her son. Such a cowardly act that he did not deserve. :h :upset:
