Just a thought on newbies versus seniors

I just would hate to see this site go down in flames due to ego, misunderstanding and hurt feelings.

There is so much here for all of us.
    Nov 1 2006 avg 100 - 120 drinks/week
    April 29 2011 TSM avg 70 - 80/wk
    wks* 1- 6: 256/1AF (avg 42.6/wk)
    wks* 7-12: 229/3AF (avg 38.1/wk)
    wks 13-18: 192/5AF (avg 32.0/wk)
    wks 19-24: 176/1AF (avg 29.3/wk)
    wks 25-30: 154/10AF (avg 25.6/wk)
    wks 31-36: 30/37AF (avg 5/wk )

I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday.

Paddle!? Nobody said anything about paddling!! I'll be happy to be the cabin boy, you know the hard work of rubbing on the sun tan lotion. Paddling is bad for my wrist! :wahh:

Just a thought on newbies versus seniors

Being a Senior Member means jack shit - I still struggle. I do well, slip, do well, slip. I am still very much a work in progress.

At least we have a place where we can relate to others, who really understand this affliction. I know for me, this is the first place I actually don't feel completely alone being an alcoholic. I have made friends from all over the world - even though they are cyber friends, I have shared stuff I wouldn't share with anyone in my 'real' life. This place should be a 'safe' place for all of us.

Of course there will be conflicts, but I believe there are ways to deal with them. If someone is having a 'beef' with someone, or maybe misunderstands what was written, I would suggest sending that person a PM? This way it keeps the drama off of the boards and spares many feelings of members involved.

I wish you all strength to achieve those goals you set forth for yourself, and peace within.

Just a thought on newbies versus seniors

We are united in this battle just as a family would unite to help a relative.
Think of sitting down with your grandma or granddad and listening to what DOESN'T works and what does, for them, ..in cooking or gardening or raising kids or life in general. Some of us are just a little "grayer" than others!
I LOVE my kids and grandkids!
My Aunt is over 90 years old and she holds the secret family chocolate pie recipe! I would be dumb not to listen for that!
And.....my precious grandmother was watching me cook roastbeef and gravy ..I was about 16.
I was taking a major foods class and I made the gravy a different way than she always did.
She said to me.."It looks like there is more than one way to make gravy"!!!I love that woman! :h She taught me so much about love and life.
So we ALL can learn for each other.

4 the boys - since Junior High- I have always wanted my very own cabin boy. It has been and continues to be a heartfelt, deep seated desire. A boy to dash off to get a an AF drink, or a wonderful meal while I have this gorgeous, insightful, brilliant man to my side enjoying sand, surf and summer breeze. Oh, and add in a loely cabana cabin.

You've got a deal on the cabin boy if I ever can arrange the rest!

                        Happy Wednesday, all.....Erin

Just a thought on newbies versus seniors

I am not disagreeing here with anyone, but I must say that when I first got here I was a mess and I mean that.
I do feel that after almost a year of reading and posting and having read RJ's book as well as others that were suggested by people here.

I feel that now as a senior member, I am more able to help and support new members and senior members as well, instead of feeling helpless, scared and worried about being rejected or criticized.
After spending more than 10 months here, I've found that the people who come to MWO for some amazing reason are wonderful, caring and very open, and I appreciate that.
Nothing worse than feeling helpless and getting a cyber hug instead of a cyber kick in the ass.

I also must ad that in no way do I feel like I am at a higher level or that I am better than anyone who is part of the site whether they are seniors or newbies.

my big girl pants don't fit that well yet.

We can all learn by reading some of the fantastic posts here at MWO.
There are so many inspiring words of wisdom, all of us should try to take them in and apply them to our lives as we can.
