      Antabuse question

People ordering topa from River said they had to wait around 3 weeks. I don't know where you live, but just so you are prepared for the wait.

        Antabuse question

Guys, Lucy is in the health field and needs a license to practice--might not be the best thing on her medical records....just in case.

Do it through River Pharmacy, Lucy, but as folks said, read up on it well first.:l:l

            Antabuse question

            Hi,

I've ordered it from River Pharmacy, again don't want it on my records. I'm on day 5 AF with only willpower and good words from here.

However, I know when I go out, I'm thinking, water, coke, etc until someone asks what I want and that voice says" large red wine please" and it's mine and it's then too late. I'm thinking of taking 1/2 or one a week just to scare myself as I absolutley don't want ANY effects apart from the fear of taking a drink.

            We'll see how it goes.

              Antabuse question

hey Cindi et al. got here late. After talking with Morrison I decided to give antabuse a go and it's been a complete blessing for me. My doc gladly wrote me the prescription and I picked it up, brought it home, put it on the table and just stared at it for a while. This was a big moment in my life. I was making a very big decision and had to get my head around it. to make a long story short I've had only a very minor reaction after cooking a meal with a lot of vinegar in it and it's a big relief to be where I am at.
I'm not taking it every day though since at home I have no trouble being AF. I take it when I'm going out or traveling with my power-drinker workmates. If you have trouble drinking at home then DEFINITELY take it every morning. It's been a huge weight off my shoulders for sure.
if you are ready to close this painful alcohol infested chapter in your life Antabuse will help you pull the lever. Take the red pill Cindi!!!!!!

                Antabuse question

                Det,

Thank you, as usual, for you candid and kind help.

As soon as I get a doctor to prescribe it, I am taking it. I just know that is the only way for someone like me who lets AL creep up on her and make her do idiotic and stpuid things, like go buy booze and drink it.

                My appt is March 14.

Until then, I will be titrating up on the Chantix and working on the no smoking. That is a HUGE issue for my hubby and he actually told me yesterday he would rather I quit smoking than drinking. Although, he does want me to do both.

                  Antabuse question

                  well Hi again all-

I am going out of town this weekend to visit my daughter but will be bringing along my laptop.

I won't be drinking, as I will be with my husband and kids, and don't really drink when with them on vacation (I know, weird, I actually don't drink on vacation...)

I think I may be getting some antabuse early next week (prior to what I ordered)..and if I can get in a few days af now, I may just start next week. I am nervous as hell about this decision, but feel it is what I must do..so I guess I am ready to start.

The antibuse I am waiting on will actually be presciption (next week). I will then anticipate the arrival of the stuff I ordered on line shortly there after.

I did order from River, and hearing positive things from some of you is comforting. I wish someone on here had taken antibuse from them though, not just topa...

Anyway, just giving you guys an update. You are all so supportive and wonderful. I wish you all lived here!!!

                  PP.

I will give you a call next week!

                    Antabuse question

                    Ahh doctors..

Hello, new here, sounds like so many stories are the same every time I bother to find a recovery forum. All the same one I have.. argh.. just lost my job again after a bender..

sadly, I wish I could try antabuse. Last time I tried to get the doctor to understand I needed to try something drastic, he was so adamant that I read the bible or go fishing... cahhh.. useless. then when he finally did relenquish, he checked my blood pressure and right back to square one.

the following week when I went back, the BP had come down, but he was still not going to prescribe be Antabuse, and thats when he started on with "well if you dont want to quit, it's up to you." and i just saw red, thinking "I damn well do want to quit, why do you think Im here !!" and tried to explain to him that it's that feeling of KNOWING I cant drink that is what will make the difference, but all he did was tlel me how sick I'd get, then told me he was going on holidays for 3 weeks.

                    So I just gave up...

but reading so many people here who have gad good results, really is encouraging. after a week long bender, after losing another job, after being with the same dr for years and only going around in circles, I might see if I can find a doctor who will help.

Why do they make it so hard?

                      Antabuse question

                      Badwolf,

If your doctor is reticent and unhelpful, obviously doesn't understand alcoholism at all, please find another.

We must have support of our doctors and family in this struggle.

                      Best of luck and :welcome:
