    5 meals

    Ok... I'm having trouble with this. Is there an appetite stimulant out there? Zinc? Do I remember that correctly from a long time ago working with kids? 5 meals? Crap. I had a smoothie and a slice of roast beef. I'm so far behind the 8 ball. I really need to succeed at this. A website? A link?

    I had a BIG problem with this too. Didn't eat anything for days at a time. Had to force food down me. (And btw, 5 meals a day is joke. I don't know anyone who does that.)

    I suggest creamy or smooth soups to sip on. And smoothies are a great way to get nutrients into you.

    The only thing that ever REALLY worked for me, though, is to stop drinking.

      I don't know much about this, but People with cancer and other extreme cases take THC or the active ingrediant in marijuana. I am not a Dr. and I am only passing on info I know to be true in some cases. Then you have to worry about dependancy on pot.

        don't worry greenie, i went a week without anything going in or coming out and i lived. lost a pile of weight and now i'm busting at the seams! its okay...:h

          Drinking heavily killed my appetite. Antidepressants can help appetite but be careful they don't increase the desire to drink, a side effect Dr's never mention!

            Actually I do 5 meals a day on average. 4 on my workdays and 5-6 on my days off, as do pretty much ALL of the trainers at the gyms I go to, dieticians (sp) I've talked to, pro bodybuilders, etc. Its no joke. I'm not hating on you or anything BTW, I'm just saying.

            I would agree though that if its so hard to eat, smooties made with MRPs would be an option. I only know of 2 substances that increase appetite though, and both of them are illegal. Have you tried excercise? That makes some people hungry.

              Believe, Yes I'm trying exercise. The five meal thing came from the trainer I hired for a couple months to get me on track who is also a nutritionist. What is an MRP?

                Hi Greeneyes. MRP stands for Meal Replacement Powder. A couple examples would be the ones by METRx, or the Myoplex line by EAS, even Weightwatchers or something along that line would work. I differentiate between MRPs and straight protiesn powders. MRPs will include carbs (usuall simple and complex) and hopefully fats as well as protien. Of course the other ingredients in your smootie will add calories and such as well, but that sounds like a good thing in your case. MRPs are normally used as supplements to balanced meals (which are the best way to go) but if you're not even managing 5 meals a day now, you just need to start somewhere. If your 5 meals are balanced properly, your metabolism will speed up, and that may help with your appetite as well.

                I got the 5 meals a day thing from a trainer as well. Its really a great way to go, you can use it to gain or lose weight. Lol I WISH I needed appetite stimulation, I'm always hungry. Its hard to wait the 2.5-3 hours in between meals!

                  Greenie, I just asked my hubby (Mr. Rum Balls), and he said that the best appetite stimulation is sex.

                  And he wasn't joking. MEN!

                  Are you losing too much weight? Do you feel like you must eat more often, or are you just trying to get your nutrients back in order?

                  Maybe if you prepare mini meals over the weekend, so that you aren't constantly in the kitchen? Little grab and go meals? Or, do you make them, and then you're not hungry/motivated to eat?

                    happy live, I'm working with a personal trainer at the gym and I have to have a certain amount of protien 5 times a day. I'm not a vegetarian, but I am supposed to not eat dairy (homeopath directive). 20 almonds is a replacement for a snack. 20!! Somewhere in the back of my mind I'm thinking 3 a day is OK but more is not good. Can't remember why. Whole new learing curve for me. And about the sex.... research that it actually decreases appetite. Sex for lunch and you won't want that hot dog or taco. hahaha

                      All right Greenie, I'll have to have my husband read the research, because he always wants "breakfast in bed" after those special mornings!!! :h

                      Are eggs considered dairy?

                      How about peanut butter? Cold chicken salad, with some mayo, mustard, and dill?
                      Tuna salad with oil, vinegar, onions? Make a meatloaf, and have cold meatloaf sandwiches?

                        He doesent'want me to have the yolks of eggs. Gee the whites are just so interesting and tasty. and P butter is too much fat. This is a lot of work! I am supposed to have 25 grams of protien 5 times a day.

                            Me too. Cold meatloaf or cold pizza.... two great burping favorites!
                            I thought peanut butter had "good" fat in it, whatever that means....

                            How about hummus? I think garbanzo beans have high protein, but I don't know how much... or, how about Chili, with chicken and kidney beans? Add some hot sauce for extra rumble.... :H

                              I like cashew butter it does have the good fat. And chick peas(garbonzos) have a huge amount of protein. Try looking up vegan meals.
