      I made the call

Hi Pooh, (that was my nickname till high school )

      Sending you strength Hon...
I've also been through treatment, 2 times. ( the first time I dont think I got much out of it, as I was going, to appease my family, NOT going because I thought I needed it)

The second time it was my decision. It did me a lot of good. Unfortunately the main focus of their program was AA/ 12 step programs...

I feel that the most progress I've ever made, is right here with MWO.

Sometimes just a break from "the norm" is what it takes...

Do whatever you need to do & don't be afraid.
I think when you're willing & ready. It will happen.:l Follow your heart & listen to that inner voice.

Now sadly because of the horrible state that Medical Insurance is in, most plans only allow for 2 weeks of in patient care, even though experts in the field believe that 30 days should be the minmum time and that 90 gives people an even better chance of recovery! Medical care in the US is definitely going backwards in many ways!

            Poohbear,

It sounds like you are on your way to taking this old way of life that is killing you and hurting your family on!!

Yes, getting through the red tape and waiting for doctors is amazingly difficult but just take it one step at a time. One foot in front of the other. When you hit an obstacle, jump over it or go around it.

You are worth every second of this battle!!

You are a fighter, girl, and you will win this war!!

            Love,

              I made the call

This is the email reply I got back from that Hospital I was referred to, I guess It's a good thing I have pretty much detoxed myself from AL, I would hate to see what happened if I was in REALLY bad shape or something. I just don't get it, is it just my area or just in general? I mean are there just alot of sick people out there or just not very many mental health care professionals? Anyway here is the reply I got.

My name is Joe, and I am one of the admissions counselors at Providence St. Peter Chemical Dependency Center. The first step you would have to do is complete our pre-admission information. I am attaching it with this email. After filling the documents in as much detail as possible, I would need you to fax everything to the fax number below. Our program is a medically monitored intensive inpatient, and the length of stay is typically 21 days. We would have to approve you to come in before we could schedule any bed dates. It would be helpful to have the assessment from Lakeside Milam, so I am attaching a blank ?release of information? for you to fill out so that we could speak with them directly. I should also let you know that we currently have a wait list for female beds that extends through the end of April 2008. So, it may be a while before we could get you in. Please call me if you have further questions. Thank you for your inquiry about our program.
              Sincerely,

Wow Pooh, that's a long wait! When I went in-patient they wanted me to go in right away. But that was,,,,OMG! 15 years ago!! If it were me, I'd fill everything out to get on the list. If you find something else, you could always cancel.

In-patient for 21 days might sound long, but you would really have a great starting off point with all that help behind you to stay sober. Especially with the dual addiction. *I* think it sounds great.

                But....what are your thoughts?

Pooh, I agree with Noelle. Get this filled out ASAP and at least get on the waiting list.

My guess it that they do have options for what would be considered a "Medical Emergency". That is somone that is in a medical Crisis. Can you imagine how many inquiries they get from somone with a bad hangover, or somone who has screwed up and scared, etc. etc. Many of these probably never follow through.

Sorry, you have to wait. But, if you feel that you really need to get in right away, I would make a call to your MD.

Gosh, I will you the best of luck in this!

                    I made the call

You know my first thought upon reading this email was oh just forget it, however upon reading your responses you are both right. I have downloaded the forms, will get them filled out and faxed in and and least put on the waiting list and in the meantime continue to look for an outpatient facility that I can go to and then maybe I won't need this place when the time comes. However if I do (which I'm hoping I won't) but if I do, at least my paperwork will be there and my name will be on the list.

Once again THANK YOU for helping me see another way

                    Hugs,

                        I made the call

ok I filled it out and faxed it in - I had to write out stuff like amounts and durations and you know what brought me to this point - wow can I say writing it out like that really brought it home!!!! Dang I do have a problem - what do you know - huh. Pretty scary in some way, but kind of a relief knowing that I am actually doing something to reach out for help.

Now on a happy note, my 20 y/o son is bringing his girlfriend over for dinner tonight to meet us and I WILL BE A SOBER MOM :happyheart: this is his first serious girlfriend so I am a bit nervous.

                              I made the call

Pooh, I went through getting set up to go to a facility. I decided to try outpatient vs inpatient because i had the choice. Anyway, after going through all you did with how much/how often, I was able to take a look at myself and try to do things differently for the next two weeks and I felt strong enough to do it without the tx center. I know everyone is different and you may be in a different place than I was. Consider your options
