Friday nights are the hardest
Fridays were always the nights I wanted to overinduge with a bottle of wine. I'm doing fine, I've been ab for three weeks. I've noticed that I do think about it, but being part of this site now has really helped me understand about alcohol abuse etc. It's been great for me to be a member. :thanks:Tags: None

Friday nights are the hardest
Welcome aboard... yes, Friday nights; Saturday nights... big DRINKING nights! I suffered from them too. The urge is still there, but we have to suppress it. I just stay home. Home means out of trouble :H
Congrats on your three weeks AF.... very impressive

yep have to agree with you - they are very, very hard. I'm having urges right now too, big ones, trying to fight them.
Congratulations to you for 3 weeks :clapping2:when you fail at something is when you learn and grow the most

"You're a hard habit to break"... I love that song and it so applies to alcohol.
The habits are ingrained in our BRAINS! We have to just work really hard and develop new habits. Don't ask me how, but we have to...
Have fun with your chickas tonight.

Friday nights are the hardest
Leyla,
I feel the same way. I find it helps the most to plan ahead with something fun or a distraction rather than say "I wont drink" and then at 7 p.m. cave because I didnt make a plan ahead of time. Its tough no matter what, but it does make it easier to know you are not alone and sometimes just hanging out here and reading, maybe get on chat? That can be a fun way to pass the time. Indulge in some good books that you have put off reading? Projects? (fun of course)... just some thoughts.
For me, I am about to go for a long sunset bike ride with my husband and son and then we rented some movies from Blockbuster that I really want to see, and then I will probably end the evening with a hot bath and some yummy Teavana tea, and then who knows? Maybe some alone time with my husband..:h
Hang in there... its just "another day" like any other. I try not to focus on it being a weekend evening.

Staying "home" not much help to me, as all of my drinking was done here. After all, you can avoid the pub but you cant avoid your home. I am 85 days sober now but Friday and Saturday are always the hardest. I don't know why, because I drank 7 days a week.Sometimes the only way to stay sane is to go a little crazy

That's wonderful, GRL... 85 days! You should be dancin' in the streets! :goodjob:

I have SO many books. That should keep me occupied... yes, having something to look forward to, maybe something you haven't done before or for a very long time, is helpful.
Maybe starting a new activity (the habit knows nothing about it)... doing new things... things we didn't do while under the "habit"
I like the alone time with the son and hubby... especially the hubby part *giggle*

I did it too!
Got through Friday night, even staying home. Being at home is hard for me, because that is when I would bring home a bottle and sit alone and drink it until it was gone. Thanks you guys for your input, it really does help me get through each day.
