    Withdrawal Question

Did anyone quit drinking and NOT experience any withdrawal symptoms?
I am on day 10 so I must be over the hump on this and I did not experience anything when I quit except the lack of a hangover.:H I kept waiting for the sky to fall but it was very anticlimactic.
I am counting my blessings on this one!

      Withdrawal Question

      Laurav,

      Awesome for you!!

I get to go through the shakes, twitching, yearning, sweating, vomiting.

It's a lot of fun, let me tell you. Hope I have gone through THAT for the last time!!

So glad you are on day 10. Now you know if you pick up a drink, you are giving into the "urge" as Noelle says and not the "cravings" of withdrawal.

Figure out some plans to deal with the urges.

      Love,

        Withdrawal Question

Oh Yea. AL is playing mind tricks today but I am on to the bastard!

I have starting doing jigsaw puzzles in the evenings. I find it very relaxing and something I can do with my kids.

          Withdrawal Question

Way to go Laura! I didn't have any withdrawl symptoms either (that I was conscience for anyway :H). I was having such withdrawal symptoms from quitting smoking that if the AL withdrawal joined with the Nic withdrawal - it was just one BIG withdrawal for me!! I blamed the whole thing on NIC - and that kept me from Freeking out! I know you cant die from Nic withdrawal - but was scared to death I could die from AL withdrawal!!!:H Aren't you just so glad to be in the double digets!! I am so happy for you!

            Withdrawal Question

Hi Laura, glad that you're feeling so good!! Me too on Day 7. I've never had any withdrawal symptoms either. I don't understand why. I used to delude myself that it was because "I really didn't drink that much" boldface lie and I knew it. Or, that I was really :h healthy and had a Superman liver.....unlikely. Whatever, I don't plan to test the theories any further because the hangovers were all in my heart and were killing me slowly. Many hugs, g

Way to go LIV for quitting smoking. I quit 12+ years ago cold turley and it was one of the hardest things I have ever done.

                Withdrawal Question

hey guys, good for you that don't get withdrawal symptoms! you are lucky. one thing i've realized since participating on this board is how different everyone is physically and emotionally. i'm not sure what your ages or physical conditions are but that probably has something to do with it.

i'm 42, fairly well overweight, and i don't exercise much. my withdrawal symptoms now last 3-4 days and manifest as insomnia, dull headache, depression and sometimes itchiness. in my 20s i was very thin and went running or swimming almost everyday, and rarely felt hungover much less withdrawal, so there ya go.

just keep up the good work and be glad its not worse.

myself, i'm on day 4 (again) but not counting :yeahright:, no really! i just had to count, but i felt great today and am worried about tonight and tomorrow as we're cleaning today for guests tomorrow and its people i'm really stressed about seeing ...

                anyway, congrats!

                  Withdrawal Question

                  Laurav,

                  Congratulations on 10 days!! :goodjob:

I too, did not experience any withdrawl symptoms. I was utterly shocked, because I was drinking 2 bottles of wine EVERY day and more on the weekends. I had elevated liver enzymes too. I can only guess that taking the supplements helped me or that everyone's system is different. Either way, I felt very fortunate not to have them. Friday will be 60 days af for me and I continue to feel better and better. Good for you for taking this huge step.

                        Withdrawal Question

I was lucky and did not experience any typical withdrawals either. I was very emotional in the beginning, but it still felt good. I wanted to cry at the drop of a hat, but I was always smiling because I was feeling better everyday. I must have looked like a basket case. :H

I really think it depends on what and how much a person drank in the first place. I love beer. I can drink a lot of it (yeah, I'm so proud:upset, but if I didn't have beer, I never felt the need to drink what ever else was around. I've had hard liquor in my closet for years. Still there collecting dust. Doesn't even tempt me. So I think that was why I didn't suffer any withdrawals. I never ever drank to get drunk. It just was the result anyway because if I opened one, it went on until I hit 10-15. If felt a change of pace and wanted something else like wine or Captn Morgan, I rarely over indulged.
