I finished the mural and I want an adult beverage!

I finally finished that darn mural! It has been one of the biggest triggers of all. I spent the final sitting finishing the mural on an AF day. The 8th day of April. An AF month for me. And now I want a glass of champagne to celebrate. Of course I cannot have a glass of champagne because this is my AF April. But I still want one. I am settling for a IZZE, sparkling Clementine - sorta tastes like a mimosa if you close your eyes real tight.

I do plan to post photos once I have taken them. I want to wait to take photos during the day. The flash picks up the texture of the walls. Once I have photos I will post them.

I am so thrilled to be done. Wish my friend who owns the wall the mural is on was as thrilled. When I yelled "The Mural is Done!" She said, "Great." Then I packed up my paints and brushes and walked to the door. "See you later", I said. "Bye", she responded. No thank you, no great job, no thanks for giving 2 and half years of your spare time for free and paying for all the materials to paint my daughter a fairy garden. Nothing. Notta. Now I want a glass of whisky. Of course I cannot have a glass of whisky because this is my AF April. But I still want one. I am settling for an IZZE, sparkling Blackberry - sorta tastesl like.... well blackberry. sigh.......

I finished the mural and I want an adult beverage!

Oh Croft I can sooooo relate. My favorite drink was when I finished wallpapering, painting or the like. I would sit down, admire my work with a big Fat drink........ lovely. But ... In my romantic memory is missing the next morning ........ when I would wake up and say "F*%K." No romance in the morning. Then I would want a drink just to "numb" the depression of actually recognizing that this was a "problem" - as daylight always shines on my parade. Nighttime ..... ohhhh romantic and all is well.

So how do we find that new high? The juice doesn't get it for me. I just look at my palmagranet (can't spell) juice with sparkling water and think - "Im cheated out of something great". So what to do ............. something special just for me ..........

        1. I've been taking a short run (this is my selfish time)
        2. I've been taking long soaks in my hot tub (this is my indulging selfish time)
        3. I get on this computer (my husband says "this is nuts how much time you are spending on the computer") so this is my selfish selfish time
        4. I eat dark chocolate squares (this is my - oops better be careful ... indulgence)
        5. I've been cussing a lot
        6. I've been sleeping good (reward)
        7. Sex is better
        8. I really am laughing louder.

So - - Thats that. I'm proud of you. It's not easy. sometimes it just sucks. But like I told my kids a long time ago - Sometimes there is no reward for doing whats right. You just do it anyway. Too bad I never have followed my own advise. The best advise we ever give to our kids is the advise we should take to our hearts!

Love to you and keep on Afing - you can do it Croft.

What is IZZE? Can I get it where I live? It must be good so I want it.

            Hi Croft,
You are doing so great with AF April!! Keep it going!I am sure you are happy this morning that you stayed AF!

As for the mural, I cannot wait to see it! It sounds like such a labor of love for you. I feel quite certain that the little girl will love it! As for "your friend"......geez, she is really cold! I cannot believe that she did not come in the room and admire the mural with you and thank you profusely for all of your hard work! But, remember Croft, her lack of appreciation and her rudeness is not about you. It is about her.
I know how hard this must be for you, but don't let it cause you to loose your AF April! Perhaps you will need to sit your friend down one day soon and have a chat with her about this. Just to clear your head!

Have a wonderful day today............Snow is Coming!!!

            XXX Kate

Noelle, IZZE is a natural soda pop. Here we can buy it at Super Target, amongst othe places, and Croft is so right, it is a yummy treat!

              Croft,

:goodjob: It must be very satisfying to have finished such a huge undertaking! You did it! So raise your hand, reach around and give yourself a pat on the back, you deserve it.

Think about how much majic you have created for that little girl. Awsome! As for her mom, eh, oh well. You will know better next time.

This situation reminds me of a conversation I had recently with another memeber here, about "Giving ourselves away".

My new project has become "Me". I am investing in me. My new word, politely phrased, is "NO, or Sorry, or Maybe Another Time".
I know my investment will pay off, and then I will have more to offer others.

We are like pitchers, pouring out of ourselves for others, until, eventually we become empty, unless we refill ourselves. Next project you do, like the mural - or similar magnitude - could be for you.

              Just a thought! :l

High five, croftie! :goodjob: I had a particularly exciting glass of organic sparlkling pear something or other. Amazingly it tasted like pear. :H It is very hard to change your reward system. Goodie for you to hang in there. And even better that you had "healthy beverages" on hand. :l

                    Awesome job Croft!

I am sure the mural is incredible, and feel free to admire and congratulate yourself on it! Remember... our approval doesnt come from others, but darn that does suck that she didnt express her gratitude! Want me to come slap her for you??

I second you on the IZZE's..... those things are wonderful! I first discovered them at Starbucks. They sell them in the little refrigerated section along with fruit juices. For anyone else wondering, our "World Market" carries them and now our Supertarget has started carrying them as well. Our Costco also sells them by the case, which is by far the best deal. My favorite is the sparkling grapefruit, then the sparkling blackberry....ummm! Here's an IZZE toast to your awesome mural!:l

Congratulations, Croft! That is a huge accomplishment, after 2 1/2 years. You must be thrilled. Don't let the shortsightedness of that woman spoil your victory.

I can't wait to see it!!!

My IZZE toast to you, too!

I am feeling really good about the mural this morning after a solid nights rest. Can't wait to go take photos of it. Going to try and stop by when "friend" is not around. I will bring a camera, champagne glass and a IZZE and the memory of these posts.

                        Thanks everyone!!!

Croft, yikes that would get me craving big time. I am an artist also and I paint to please me, but also to please the person who will be living with my art...that's what it's about to me. Bringing pleasure to others with the skills I have been given.
That would have really hurt my feelings,..no 'wow' or 'it looks fab' or even 'I appreciate the time and effort you have put into this'.....hmmmm I would send her an invoice

What a fantastic achievement to finish such a mamouth job! :goodjob:

Can't wait to see the pics!!
