Hi, loved reading all about these places which have just been "names" before. I live in the South West of England and today it is blowing a gale and ccccold - not at all spring like! We're right out in the sticks, surrounded by fields - can't really get anywhere without driving (which makes the ?1.20 litre of diesel a real sore point). If I could live somewhere else it would be nearer the sea, I love the ocean and hope to move there when the kiddies aren't kiddies any longer! My Dad didn't make it more than 2 years into retirement so I'm intent on not waiting until then, grasp the day and all that!

I've been onto Youtube today and found a rather nice vid of some still photos from around the area I live. On doing so it reminded me of why I enjoy this place so much.
I'm sure jinja you will remember a few of these once living here yourself!!

opening day!
will be fishing tomorrow..opening day here in the states..thats wot i love having your own spot to FISH in. Told hubby bring your poison were going to the pond, you can drink and squirt in the woods all day while i fish with the grand-girls. Gamma does worms and all! Not like last year, almost fell over tilt right in...gawd that wine was good! Gonna give those pinkie toes a break this weekend they have had quite A beating! No pretty red tootsies this summer just me smiley face and fresh breath, standing tall, loving where i live! Had to share..have my own pole too...fly fish, bait and all, sun fish, cat fish, trout and some mud pouts swim there. See some snakes, turtles and lots of BUGS. Better not forget the spray...OH NO! Love the country..peace and quiet..lots of space..Maybe find some early flowers pushing upwards, the gurls like flowers, just to smell the natural air instead of stinky ciggies, i am so smoked as of lately, i may be loaded with lung cancer. I must remove the stinkers, cannot get a huff of air well these days, never did it this bad before..gurls have only seen Gamma do it a few times...maybe high powers can put a STOP to the cancer sticks too..Toodles to all for a happy healthy cheery day of love and hugs. Please do not drink and drive and pray for kittys who are not wanted. I love you too and understand how you feel..thank you too.

Do you like where you live??
Finally got time to read this thread with the time it deserved. At the risk of being a thread killer (since I'm late) I'll share anyway.
I basically live in my own little world most of the time. And I'm pretty happy here, but hearing and seeing (thanks Hippie) your worlds, makes me want to see the rest of the world. I guess I'm lazy, just never have had the desire to travel much.
We have 4 seasons which I like, but Summer and Fall my favorites. I grew up on a farm, live on a farm & ranch now. Swore I'd never marry a farmer, watched my parents work their arses off--but can't keep the farm outta the girl. I love to garden, love the quiet, the stars, raising my kids this way. We raise cattle, corn, beans & alfalfa hay. I am a 4-H leader. We live near a really small town, but just a short drive away from Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota--which is nice.
Sometime I might apply for a part-time job working for Bessie--taking care of her "lets" if that's ok. I would love to visit Ireland and Australia as well._______________

Do you like where you live??
I love where I live. We have a lake across the road from us and it's beautiful when the Swans, snow geese and canadian geese are all out there in the winter. We are not close to town and I remember as a teen I was quite resentful that I wasn't near my friends. Now as an adult I can't believe it took this all for granted as I am sure my children will.
No matter where I live, I still have me and what I need to work on."Keep your eyes and heart focused on the end goal at all times, and never settle for less."

Do you like where you live??
Come on over LVT! If you can raise cattle you can surely give me a hand with the pigs, chickens and sheep! I need someone to look after the animals and the holiday lets so I can get a holiday! I bloody need one and having read about all the fabulous places that people live and want to live on this thread I would be hard pressed to choose one from them all. Maybe I need to do a world tour!?? :H:H. Hubby rang from Cape Town last night. He's found a great place there he wants us to go back to. Yeah right, we struggle to get half a day off together (got our first one in ages scheduled in the diary for this Sunday providing nothing goes wrong!) let alone scooting off around the world. He does it for a job. I stay home and look after everything. Do I sound bitter and tired and overworked? That'll be because I am! :H:H
Not really. Going back to the start of this thread, I do live somewhere lovely and today the sun is shining so it looks pretty good and I am happy to be here. I have a full day of work but nobody is on my case, only me. I have my dogs for company and if I want to take off for a break with them within minutes I can be on the beach or in the woods or on an old track way through some lovely countryside.
I tried to find a similar YouTube post having seen Hippie's but the only vids I could find about North Norfolk were about steam railways! Hundreds of them - I didn't realise we had so many! Or rather I didn't realise how many railway enthusiasts we had!!!
Anyway, that really has to be my lot for this morning. Time to get on.

So what have you got scheduled for Sunday then Bessie?!!!!lol
A lot of the photos in the vid are obviously taken around the more greener areas of the Wirral as we do have a lot of green-belt land situated around the coastal areas of the peninsula. I've kind of got the best of both worlds really where I'm a 20 minute walk from the coast and beaches and about a 30 minute cycle I can be in woodlands. It was only watching that vid again that really brought that home to me. I'm quite lucky really. The only problem we are having at the moment is the council seems to be allowing the go-ahead of a major golf resort build that most residents are unhappy about. We had one major open here a few years back in Hoylake, some of you may of seen it on TV, and the fat cats are suddenly hearing the sound of cash registers. It's fast becoming a major issue here and something I am finding myself getting more and more involved in.

Do you like where you live??
Its our silver wedding this year and we've decided to celebrate it by taking all four of us (me, husband, and two teenagers) to New York. We've never been before and think this would be something special to look back on....especially as we may not get many more holidays all four of us just on our own!!
We're thinking of going late August and would appreciate any tips/information, where to stay, places to visit, places to stay away from, etc etc. I am sure we have a few MWO' ers from New York?????

Do you like where you live??
Marbella Spain
Interesting thread - thanks
I live in Marbella (Spain)
really bizzare place to live, full of loads of people from all over the world Brits, Swedes, Germans etc. who have come here for the weather and the golf.
It is beautiful, we live at the foot of a wonderful mountain that seems to change every day.
The down side is that there is very little sense of community,
most of the people here are very wealthy (except the locals obviously)
life is very much one long party where heavy drinking is the norm
(huge contributing factor to my drinking problem)
I sometimes wonder what is happening in 'the real world'
nice to read about everyone else's reality.
Best wishes
New.

NewBeginning,
We used to have another member that lived in Spain.
Darn, old age and years of alcohol abuse, I cannot remember her "name."
However, I believe she finally gave up and left. Her significant other would not join her in a reduced drinking lifestyle and like you, she said the whole community just considered drinking large quantities was the norm.
I miss her, she was a very warm and friendly member.
I hope she is doing well wherever she landed.
Anyone who remembers her? Jump on in and let me know.
Thanks!!

Cindi, I can't remember her name either! I remember her posts though.
I love living here on the Rogue River. Grew up here, & couldn't wait to leave. After being away for 20 years, living in Arizona & Colorado (which I loved also:h)
I love it even more.
Here's some footage of a rapid upstream ( I portage this section w/my kayak...a bit too hairy for me!)

Wow Jude!!!! You live on the Rogue? That is on my do before I die list! I thought it was a rather calm river. Guess not. We flipped a dorie in Lava (no maybe it was Granite) on the Colorado. I came up underneath the boat and had to kick my way out. Then on to Crystal! I love the thrill of a river. Today I was thinking about the time I rode on the back of someone's kyak in a bikini at the bottom of 7 foot foot falls on a class 5 section of Chattoga river in GA ( think "Deliverance"). The Gauley in West VA was quite an exceptional experience as well.sigpic

Holy Sh*t! you flipped in Lava? I'd hate to have to swim there!
Probably was Granite.., Crystal is above Lava. That's huge too! We watched 2 boats flip there last time I was there!
I've been thru the Grand twice in a raft & once mostly in kayak...(I took over somebody elses kayak after they were injured & had to hike out @ Phantom Ranch after Marble Canyon) I let somebody else paddle my boat thru Crystal & Lava.
But even the small stuff down there is HUGE!!
Heres some more footage of our neighborhood within 10 miles...I work @ the mouth of the river.
