      Better late than never..

      AmazingAwesomeAngel !

After everything, I probably am the last one to greet you.

Hearty congratulations for staying alcoholfree for nine months !

Its the success stories of friends like you that inspire us to aim for what we once thought was a practical impossibility - life unencumbered with alcohol.

I know that from hereon you will not only continue going from strength to strength but also keep summing up the journey so eloquently as only you can.

Did you take the supps and the topomax what did you use to help not drink?
Hi Jaded, and thank you so much for the congratulations!
I didn't use anything to quit, just like I didn't when I quit smoking, both done cold turkey. For me & my personality type (being stubborn & ornery as hell), when I decide to do something, I have a lot of drive, determination & willpower at the onset. This tends to help me get through the first stage by sheer will power. But willpower isn't something we can rely on for the long haul...kind of like adrenalin.. good for the short term to get you out of trouble (or into!) lol
So the next step is to start working on our mindset...to become a happy & content ex-drinker, instead of a drinker that doesn't drink.... there's a world of difference between the two.
I choose to be the one that now enjoys their life sober & free to be the person I was meant to be!

Hello Hippie & thank you so much for taking the time to come here & congratulate me on my special day!
Not only do I consider recovery a journey, but I also believe that it should embraced & enjoyed. Although I contemplate what it will feel like in a year & years to come... the best part is taking it all in & appreciating every step of the way....both the good & the painful.
It matters not how fast we get there, but the progress we made along the way.

Thank you for your kind words about our Journey thread...yes, we do have lots of fun, but more importantly, we are there for each other when we need help....and welcome anyone who is determined to take control of their alcohol addiction. And it's amazing how figuring out the next fling or scam, can really take the mind off of our want of a drink!

Silly? Yes. But mess with success?! LOL

you know Betty, I really am! I'm so grateful that I found the courage & strength 9 months ago to take on this challenge... I had no idea what was in store... but on faith of what others had told me, I believed they were right in what rewards lay ahead... so I persevered through all the tough times, knowing that blue skies were just beyond my horizon.

Believe me, these past 20 some months have been quite the ride...I just got comfortable with one quit, and then decided to start on another.... there were times when I thought I was more of a masochist than someone on the road to recovery! LOL
But thankfully, those days are over, and now I'm reaping all the rewards from the effort that I've put in
I wish there was a way of showing everyone that is just starting out, how choosing sobriety can be the greatest gift they could ever give themselves... it truly is life altering.
