Hippie, I can feel some real frustration seeping out...I'm feeling for you bro. Sounds like you know what to do. Put on your funky gear, hit some festivals and meditate, celebrate, experiment. i think we sometimes need a retreat or bootcamp of sorts in our lives from time to time. a time to be in a radically different environment and reflect from a different perspective. It's just healthy.
      be well.

        Hi Hippie

I am not sure from your message what your plans are. Are you going back to partying or going back to a rave/festival life or both?

Of course you need to do what you want but I think one thing you might want to think about... part of what you are feeling may be related to getting older. I think you are in your mid-30s right? and you have a child. You may be on the cusp of a big life change and are torn. But that doesn't mean you need to try to go back and hunt for an old life. I hope there were other reasons you changed from partying, not just to please other people. Didn't you do any of it for yourself?

I also think that abstaining can make a person crazy and feel deprived. But there seem to be so many benefits too. I hope you can find a way to strike a balance so you don't lose your life in the process of getting healthy.

Hippie, someone brought to my attention my posted response sounds like an "ok" to start using drugs/al again. that is NOT where I was going with my post just as a clarification. I was referring to explorations of your mind and consciousness to find the real you. Hope that makes sense!

                Hippie,

Your honesty is awesome and thought provoking. You will find Det and Dx to be the most honest, and fun loving people. I hope you get the chance to meet them as I did!

Peace and Happiness back at you!

                    A complete turnaround!

                    Hi Hippie

                    How is everything going?

I was thinking about your post again and... it occurred to me that relationships are part of who we are. so doing things for other people is partly for ourselves. We value these people and we want to keep them in our lives. Thinking about others and changing for those we love and are responsible for is admirable.

Hopefully you can help yourself and them at the same time. I know you were feeling badly about losing some relationships and feeling alone/lost. It's too bad that so many of us find temporary solace in things like alcohol.

I don't think you sounded very happy in your old life, though for sure you were in some pain during the transition period.

Hope you are well and of course no judgement from this corner of the cyber world.
