Chat issues

Has anyone had any problems they were able to fix with regard to accessing Chat? I can't seem to access it from my home computer and I was asked if the chat session requires a specific router port be opened? Is it susceptible to spam filters and/or pop-up blockers? I don't think i have any spam filters and I set it to allow pop-ups....I am missing out on chat at home.

Any suggestions?
