    My mother got on a troop ship during the 2nd Big War
    Was a bad move as a woman, especialy dressed as an Arab....
    I was not thought of and quite frankly didn't want to be.
    She went to Damascus and had her dress measured -me as well, Oh hell they did it on a box, with some Vogue measurement that came out of the magazine with the model also on the box..... With the dress..well you know.
    If I had a picture, well I'd send it

                    The Box.

                    As my Mum explained it, the dress she would have ordered was from a 1942 Vogue catalogue, The model had her leg up on a box and she (the cat's Mother) wanted exactly that look. Snappy on 2 Pounds a week
                    The tailor in Damascus gave it to her precisely, just as the magazine had it, on a box. Looked like Vogue, only when she had your leg cocked up on a box!!
                    Doesn't have the dress to this day and is definitely slower than in troop ship days. Bit like me really... but we keep going, as I wish you you all.
