Please be an organ donor
Please be an organ donor. I had the privilege of knowing many many people on the hepatitis boards when I was going through treatment. There are so many lives that can be saved or prolonged by donating organs. It was so extremely sad to have talked to a couple women that over the year I was active on those boards, who died of liver failure while waiting for a suitable organ to be available from a donor. I was a donor before, and I still want to be although now that I will always test positive for Hep C even though it is no longer active, I cannot be a donor.MarcieTags: None

I am one also and I also am on the bone marrow registry. You take a swab and scrape the inside of your cheek thats it. It costs about 50 dollars to donate for the testing, but once tested you are in a national registry. Two ways to donate marrow if a match, one is your blood cells they can somehow make marrow from them, or if needed the other way is from your hip bone, day is hospital et.

I also am on the bone marrow registry and am surprised I have not been called yet. I cannot believe there are not more matches out there. What a gift to be able to save a life.
I am a huge proponent of being an organ donor. If something of yours is working and healthy you should pass it along to someone who can use it after you are gone.I'm really easy to get along with once people learn to worship me

I'm an organ donor, and I would encourage everyone who can to donate blood regularly as well. One pint can save up to three lives.
Thanks for bringing this up, Marcie. Although many of us know this, it is easy to forget in the day-to-day bustle of life.

One of my good friends' son, who is a day younger than mine, almost died of liver failure 4 days after his 1st birthday. He needed an emergency live liver transplant and his uncle was able donate a section of his. This was last Sept.; all was successful but not without a few complications. Both baby and uncle will be on meds for life, and raising awareness for organ donation is paramount. Baby will be 2 in August and has a new baby brother.
Marcie, great to hear from you! Been thinking of you lately....hope all is well.

I am a blood donor twice a year, and an organ donor.
They won't be able to do anything with my chard lungs (maybe in a decade once the tar and other crap leaves them), but they can have everything else.
I agree, being an organ donor, marrow donor (I have no clue if there is a registry here, never heard of one. There probably is tho.), and blood donor can save so many lives!

I am a blood donor...and an organ donor...even my eyes, which you have to donate separate. You can't take it with you and someone else is always in need. It is sad how many don't make it due to lack of donations.Sometimes I wonder...."Why is that frisbee getting bigger?"...and then it hits me.

I donated everything. I did it many years ago. I say take whatever you want. I don't need it after I'm gone. So many people die due to lack of donation. It is so selfish to keep what you don't need anymore. I give blood whenever I can also.
It was funny. After 9-11 I tried to give since I live near NYC. They said they had too much - too many donors. But they BEGGED me to come back in two weeks since they said they always get too many donors after disasters but not enough donors the rest of the time. Keep that in mind.Rest in Peace, Bear. We miss you.

Not everyone can donate... and you must find that out first...
However... I have received several blood transfusions. I thank that person and God now!!!
I have a donor bone in my neck from some very kind soul that... donated everything ... and I would be dead without it ... I also received another donor part last year or I would be dead...
I thank God and that person now!!!
None of this had to do with drinking... But, now that I think of it... wouldn't you think... I'd think of it more and be more appreciatively...
I want to thank those people that did donate and enabled me to still be alive today.
Thank you for bringing this up...Sunny Out Looks are Contagious!
