Can sweet things make you feel tired and low?

I did 30days af and feeling really great in myself full of energy.
But the last few days i have been feeling really tired and low in myself.
Like everyone else i also develop a craving for sweet things like chocolate and sometimes cakes. I seem to have in my car packs of sweets and chocolates, always eating when i'm driving. i use to have lots of water in my car before, but now it sweets.
Just out of interested has anyone felt like this and can chocolate really make you feel tired and low.
Look forward to other peoples experiences.

    Love

Whenever I binge out on sweets I wake up feeling hungover.

          Teardrop,

Awesome on the 55 days!! Yay!!

Refined carbs, sugar, etc, have a very bad effect on the human body.

You get a rush and then a drop as the body produces so much insulin to deal with it.

Instead of "sweets," eat fresh fruit. It helps.

Try a protein shake with some L-Glut; it seems to help me.

                  H everyone,
I just want to share an embarrasing moment with you. I went to a local AA meeting on Thursday night and walked slap bang into the lady cleaning the hall. She is the mother of one of my son's former friends. I wished the floor would open and swallow me. I ended up keeping my back half turned to her and having conversations hoping she won't recognize me but what is the chance. I saw her eyes widen when she saw me. Fortunately she finished up and left and I could regain my composure.
                  Argh!!!!

Jessie, did you mean to post this on this thread? I think you should start a new thread about your experience and maybe share a little more about how you felt and are feeling now-- it might get a discussion going on how people deal with situations like that (which I'm sure we all have or will).
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Teardrop, my sugar intake has definitely increased since I stopped drinking. I was never into desserts, cakes, chocolate before.......would have them in the cupboard for the kids but would never touch them myself, would much rather have savouries and, of course, the wine.

Now I'm terrible!!! I've just had two bars of galaxy with my coffee!!! I'm sure it does have a big effect on our moods.....I get that immediate "high" after eating it but then comes the "slump" afterwards!!!

Why feel odd? People not affected just don't get it....and never will. Be proud of yourself.

Teardrop - I am right with you! I know I have almost promoted sugar on here at times - certainly beats the hell out of alcohol! But I am getting the same synptoms....and know I have to stop it.... I have done it loads of times before for the anti-Candida diet (no sugar and no yeast) and it's not unlike coming off Al! And for me, tapering off works better so I don't get the horrible slump of day 3-4 (hmmm...where've I heard that before!?!) but when I do....oh boy, do I feel better?! YES! And almost immediately sugary things taste unbelieivalby sweet and I don't fancy them! Suddenly just one plain digestive is quite enough! Yea!

Perhaps we need/could have a sugar downturn thread!?!?! Janice - two
Galaxies?!?!!? Really?!?!? (OK, Yea. I've done that, too! 8 chocolate rich tea biscuits easy! And this morning it was a whole (small though) Toblerone - in one!)

But, until Al is saftely out of the world, at least sugar only causes the hangover and not the embarrassing behaviours beforehand........

AND 55 DAYS IS FANTABULOUS!!!!! Enjoy the concert too!

Just to be carefull, everyone should be aware that too much of a high and low thing could be a sign of diabeties - both highs and lows can leave you feeling pretty awful. If in doubt, check it out!
