Strawberry's
I ate the first strawberry's of the season today. What a difference between store bought and fresh from your own garden. Just blow on them and eat them, no washing needed. I doubled the size of my garden this year and am looking forward to the fruits of my labour.Tags: None

We are getting a late start to our garden this year but it has been so rainy and grey I think we will be okay. Nothing compares to fruits and veggies from the garden!I'm really easy to get along with once people learn to worship me

My strawberry bed is almost done, too.
My blueberries and hackberries are loaded. I can't wait!!
My black raspberries are covered this year. We have 3 briars we "maintain" as best as one can maintain those suckers.
However, we have had a few falcons on the property the last two years and the squirrels are at a minumum (yuck, just thinking about it...) however that means more black raspberries for us if we can keep the birds at bay. Yummm!!
Just watch out for the chiggers!!

It is taking soooo long for warm weather here, I wonder if I will get anything from my garden this year at all- except of course zucchini!!!! My beans are about 3 inches high, tops, and everything else just coming out of the ground. A terrible cool spring on the northern prairie!! All this talk of strawberries and raspberries is making my mouth water! Hopefully, the u-picks will be ok - strawbs don't usually start until into July here!

Peanut, come to CT, it was 105 (fareinheit) on my deck yesterday late afternoon, says its 94 out now, feels a lot hotter though!!! I leave the gardening up to the farmer's markets, you're talking to someone with a black thumb, although i haven't killed my rosemary plant yet!!!

I'd love too - I'm sick of this horrid weather. It is only 13C out there- that' like 56F for you metrically challenged types. Wednesday is supposed to only go to 50F!!!! And cloudy too. How the heck is a garden supposed to grow with that kind of temperature?!?!? Although, 105F might be a bit much for me!! I love running, but never do it midday, as I can't stand running in heat - I get all dehydrated and my hand feel all swollen and my head all prickly. I'd rather run in -30C than +30C any old day!!! Strange but true!

Maters- as in Ta-maters (without the ta)?
I have about 50 potato plants standing tall and proud as well. The first year I grew potatoes my wife said "why are you growing them, they are so cheap in the grocery store". Well, after the first barbecue with the garden potatoes wrapped in tinfoil and butter, she understood. Garden vegetables taste so much better than store bought.

My heat index is, ummm, I do not know.
We are hot, though.
I love the home grown strawberries that we have, the blueberries are not there yet, the hackberries are not there yet, (This is the first year I did not grow tomatoes and now if you buy them in the store they may have salmonella, cripes!!) but we have black rasperberries that are profific.
I love what God (nature) provides!!
Hubby pulled down the Muscadine Grapes because they were choking the trees. He has left the "arbors" where nature wants them and they are beautiful. It may take several years, but they will be there.
