    Today on Oprah

If you missed Oprah today, you missed an extremely moving show. It was about people who are dying (at a young age) and about how they are choosing to live the remainder of their life. They could chose to feel sorry for themselves, but instead are living with a positive attitude, making the most of each minute they have left on this earth. It certainly made me think about how many blessings I have in my life (although things may seem hard for me, many times I forget that I am luckier than many). There are so many lessons that can be learned from these people.

I saw it and was so moved by it too... the fella with Pancrea (sp) cancer was aired quite sometime ago. Hubby and I watched atleast 6 months ago... I didn't get a chance to see the end of the show to see if it was "In His Memory" or that... Did you notice??? When he said the bit about making the talk for 3 people.. I just cried. We are all so blessed and could learn to live our lives more fully from these folks. Thanks again for reminding me of that. xxx

I did not see anything about if he has passed or not. It was an extremely emotional show. I can't even imagine knowing that I was leaving my children. He was such an inspiration and really seemed to be living that way long before he found out he was sick.

Hi time2, I saw this show the first time that it aired. It was so moving. It really makes any other problems seem so trivial. Especially whinning and crying about never drinking again!!

Randy Pausch is the professor that you are talking about. He was on Oprah, via satelite about one month ago. He said that he had stopped all treatments, with the exception of pain management. He was hoping to live through fathers day. What a truly remarkable man, with an also truly remarkable wife. His book The Last Lecture is a wonderful book. A book he actually wrote for his own children.

I think that watching a program like this one should move us to more than tears.......I am moved to gratefulness.

Yes, you just need to look at life around you and consider how blessed you are... I remember watching the news once, it may have been the sri lanka disaster and thinking, '...and all I'm bothered about is another drink...' Selfish or what?
