I love ducks!! LOL I feel the same way, we are all following eachother down what is to be a bumpy probably unpleasant road for awhile. I know I'm already getting there, on edge, snappy, craving sugar REALLY bad BUT it's better then that feeling of guilt and remorse of having that drink....right?
Well, I'm going to get dinner going, I think hubby will be so relieved to come home and see me drinking some hot green tea instead of a huge mug of beer!
Hope everyone has a good night...XXOO

      Dolphin, cute analogy.
Renewal, You seem to be a born leader!! Way to go starting this thread. You seem to have found what works for you. Rally your troops of support and march forward. That is awesome. Just like Dolphin, I, too am relatively new here and am part of the duck parade.
Way to go all of you on facing the Demon, setting goals and making a plan to stay AF. It is hard, you will have good days and bad days. Keep coming back here for the support you need and it will be easier. Have a great evening.

        Another thanks to renewal

Thanks for starting this thread - should be a great gathering place for those of us taking this on in the solstice week. I'm a well-trained professional 3 to 4 days a week and the other days I'm a not-so-well trained housewife. This is day 2 AF and the challenging one since it's one of my housewife days. Sipping from the bottle has become my habit. Sneaking a sip I should say. And then another one and so forth. It's 3:30 here and so far doing fine. Will be waiting to hear how those of us farther east (and later in the day) are doing. My goal today is to NOT become a VODKA-SOAKED not-so-well trained housewife.

          Cheering you on

Good going everyone: Another idea is to go on chat: talk to each other or any of the MWO members: Tell them you're just starting out and you'll get lots of support. I'm remembering my first week, and wishing you well. You can do it!

I'm on my first day sober once again too! I don't feel so good but I'm not drunk or drinking like yesterday. I'm still nervous about going into work in the morning. I called several people from work including my boss while I was drunk not sure every thing I said. I'm one of those that drink and dial. I'm 38 years old and I've tried for many years to stay sober, and continue to try. I need all the help I can get.

I am really impressed with you all ~ this HONESTLY is the best way to get going. When I first logged on here, I wondered around for weeks before I felt like I was finding friendships! You guys are rocking! How I remember these first days Alcohol free. As F. Angel said - these days are the reason some of us will NEVER drink again! I myself am NEVER going to go through this stage again. But as obvious as that is to each of us who have been AF for some time, I also look back on the early weeks as with some sweet memories. Even though they are tear soaked - they are my first CLEAR memories in years. I wasn't a stumbling drunk, but I drank every single night for YEARS and had started drinking in the mornings to deal with the stresses of the day. (Read ... the stresses of living an Alcohol filled life). Even though the first days were very scary - they were MY life finally without Alcohol. You WILL look back and find yourself like a new baby - ready to be fed and grow. And quickly grow you will! And like F. Angel also said ... the body does repair quickly. However I didn't feel like my body recovered any to fast - and I know I still have a ways to go.

Hang tight together, PM each other, stay with this tread NO MATTER WHAT. It is a huge key to success.

So .... Best wishes and God Bless each of you!
AF since Jan. 1, 2008 .... It all began right here

Raise your hopeful voice, you have a choice, you made it now.

Hello friends....hey, I just posted a long note about tonight, and again it did not go through as my time was expired....does anybody know how to post a long note without 'losing it' and having to log in & start over again?? Okay, I better hurry......tonight, my day 2 is a success...had a very stressful night at work and had cravings (and headaches) during the evening.....got home after midnight and am having my O'Douls as I type.....couple kessons I'm learning.....
-if it aint in the house, my odds are better
-that 1st half hour I'm home is the most difficult....a couple glasses of ice water and a little food helps a great deal......
-staying busy by typing, reading, walking, talking on the phone, etc, helps occupy those boring times when temptation hits......
Let me know how you all did today....I'm real happy with the response of all of you on our new thread....hope you'll make it part of your every day.....thanks everybody and goodnight.

Good luck to you all on this thread. Its a great program and really works. I have been 2.5 months free of binge drinking and smoking and am never going back there. It is so worth it.

                        Day 2 done & dusted

well its 10.30 in the morning and I got through last night AF - yeh! It wasn't easy and I am really glad I had nothing in the house. Hubbie offered to pick me a bottle up but I said no - wow is this me? I even slept a bit better but woke up at 4 with a massive headache which I cant shift - is that normal?
I know I have a long way to go but each day is a step along the way to me. I hope you are all doing well - hers to us all xx :h

                          Not so good

I am ashamed to say, I did not go AF last night. I didnt buy any, but I knew we had beer at the house. I was determined not to drink, of course the more I thought about not drinking the more I wanted to, and it was stressful to think about not drinking, so I smoked 3 cigs on the way home from work. After some thought and some beers, I decided not to buy any more wine, which is what I have really been hooked on. I think maybe If I just stick with Beer, I will be ok for a few days.. I dont really like Beer, and after a couple nights of drinking 4 or 5, and no wine at all I will get tired of it and be able to stop.. Who Am I kidding? Certainly not any of you and Not myself either.. The fact is I really need to try and just stop, if only to prove to myself I can, because now I am really starting to wonder if I can.... How did everyone else do?

Good morning to all my dear new friends!! ((((HUGS)))
Well I can't lie, last night started to be NO fun. We had dinner and gave peanut a bath and by the time we were done I was exhausted. I felt like I had the flu. Hubby told me to go lay down and I opened a book I got at the library called "A Place Called Self" about alcohlic women and recovery. I was crying because I finally got ALOT of what this Dr was saying. My head was pounding and I felt naseous so I laid my head down and fell to sleep at 7:30PM! I woke up at about 10PM and it was awful. The shakes, sweating, headache, I felt like I had the flu. Wen't downstairs and hubby made me some hot tea, wrapped me in a blanket and he just held me. Sorry...I'm balling right now. So many times he's had to go through this...
Anyway, we came up to bed after about half an hour and I took a Tylenol PM put on my meditation tape and fell to sleep. Woke up at 5 AM and went out and rode 35 miles and I feel REALLY, REALLY good. Now, I know the cravings will hit and I'm scared to death when they do but I know here, I'll get the POSITIVE input and help that I need. I'm my own worst enemy so I need friends more than ever right now.
To everyone that posted, I'm SO happy to have met you all. If you didn't make it last night, today is a new day we can do this right??

                              Hi All,

I did it and made it through the night without anyting to drink. I am so glad. This is my 4th day. It has been a long time since I have dones this. I had some time before my haircut, so I went shopping instead of going to eat Mexican. You know what most people want when they eat Mexican. (Margarita) well that is what I usually want. But I did not go. Of course the little shopping spree cost me a little bit, but it was worth it. Not trying to go from one addiction to another, but if it kept me from drinking then I will suffer it any day .

I am happy for you Renewal that you made it through the night. I am sorry that you could not fight it Whitemarsh, but you are back today and you will be able to.

Cuddles I am sorry for your rough night too. This weekend on the lake will really be my challenge. I just want to get to a point where I do not think about it constantly.

                              Tina
