Hi guys,

Not sure how to address this so please bear with me ............

I have been here a long time and I have given and received support from many many members here ..........

Recently someone here decided to create new user id's just to get at me ..........

I only mentioned them in subscribers so that it didnt create drama's here in general ...........

however a well meaning member spotted this and started a thread supporting me ........

That was met with lots of support but unfortunately sparked a huge dislike of me from a member who really lashed out at me personally ..... this was followed up with several nasty posts and got so bad that RJ deleted .......... I never asked for any of it ........

I can deal with different opinions but when it is personal about appearance and weight (even though they have never met me) I cant let that go .....

However, every time I tried to defend myself I was accused of attention seeking ............ even accused of using my daughters epilepsy to gain attention ........... apparently this site is all about me ........

Anyway, after a few days not coming here, I have realised that I can do an online degree which will help my business for less hours than I am spending here!!! So I will be spending my time working for my business now .........

I'm not leaving here, I will check in from time to time, and will still subscribe as this place got me sober ....... but I cant let people here hurt me anymore ...........

Thanks for all the PM's that I have had, and for those of you will want to post nasty responses ........... go ahead ...........

I just want to tell you how happy I am for you that you are moving on and seeking a degree. It is great to hear that MWO helped you get sober and I hope that you have received alot of support from members here. I know that you are always there to offer support and I thank you for that. I'm so happy that you are not leaving and will stick around in spite of all that has happened. Again, good luck with the degree and we look forward to you "checking in".

I saw the thread...you are NOT the ONLY MEMBER that gets love threads started so I am not really sure why you were attacked and those same people attacking participate in the other love threads. I think we all are very sensitive, perhaps why we are all alcoholics as well. But, please keep in mind that these people are CYBER SPACE people. Yes, some of us do care for each other, but truth be known, not many of us would actually go beyond kind words and a phone call. I mean....really has anyone moved in with each other, offered shelter, food, REAL LOVE. This is a web-site...bottom line. LET IT GO!!!! Like you said...how many of these people have you actually met???? How many of us have actually went to the hospital with you and your daughter, I think NONE!!! RIGHT??? Why are you letting this hurt you so? F-IT! It is the internet honey. You will never, ever ,ever meet 95% of these people. We offer support, but from afar.

Excellent move, Betty! When I think of all the thousands of hours I've spent on here, I probably could have earned two PhD's (with Hons.) in the same amount of time. LOL

I honestly believe that everything happens for a reason.

I apologize for my posts and for not being able to control my own emotions during the fiasco.

I am happy for you. I think going for a diploma or a degree is a better way to utilize your time. I am a believer in continuous education no matter what age you are, etc. You can never lose educating yourself.

I have to laugh at Tawny's post. I, too, could of earned a couple of 'PhD's' with the amount I have spent on here over the last 19 months.
