Race for Life - Beating Cancer

    Hi guys!

Not often I start a thread but today is an exceptional one. Today myself, two friends and 2,500 other women from my town and surrounding areas ran, jogged and walked for Cancer Research UK. The place was a sea of pink, pink tee-shirts, pink ballet skirts, pink hair even and me and the girls wore gold glittery cowboy hats! Sisters were certainly doing it for themselves and everyone who has been touched by cancer. What a morning, and this afternoon another huge band of women and girls will race again. We only did 5K but it was a wonderful experience, especially reading the messages pinned to each woman's back, one lady in front of me was doing it for her Dad who only died two weeks ago, and a little girl had a sign that said "For my grandad, who I never met, but I know he is looking down on me". And I did it for my Dad, who died of prostate cancer many years ago, but who still has the capacity to make me laugh every day that I think about him. Bless them, every one!

Race for Life - Beating Cancer

Sounds like a great day, Last !! There is nothing better than working towards a positve outcome and honouring those we have lost by working towards the positive! I volunteer with the American Cancer Society, I began doing this when my sister died at the age of 26 from Cervical Cancer. She would have turned 47 tomorrow. In the year 2000, I became a cancer, survivor myself. Because of research and early detection, I survived and now thrive.

Know that what you did yesterday is helping people. As yet, we do not have universal cures, but we do have better treatments and earlier detection. Every volunteer counts, every effort so worthwhile!

          :thanks: Dear last--

I think that is just great! I would love to be a part of something like that!
My dad survived prostate cancer for almost 20 years before it grew in his bones and got him in July of 2005. My mom died from cancer in her lung in December of 2004!

They've got to find a prevention and or cure for that S@#T!

          Thanks again!:h
