Wowee, I did it! The perfect setting. Went to a play (Reefer Madness) at a little theatre and they have a bar where they serve alcohol and wine. Went with GF who I told on the way there that I quit drinking because it was getting in the way. She said "Completely?" "Yep; it's relatively new". She said "Wow, I've been thinking I need to cut back." She got a beer and I got a bottle of water and was perfectly happy. No feeling of deprivation whatsoever. The play was hilarious and I felt like my normal self. I thought it was a good way to ease in to the social life as a non-drinker.
