      CS - I know it is such a cliche, but everything really does happen for a reason. You are going to get some FANTASTIC job that makes even more money than that one and you will feel so thankful that this one fell through. It's going to all work out!

      I'm glad that although most of us did not have a completely AF August, it sounds like we are all on an upswing. More "0's" on the tracker and feeling encouraged for September.

      So, what are we all going to do to plan for the upcoming holiday (for our American friends!).. I think some of us might need a plan to get through Labor Day. In my neck of the woods it means a lot of fireworks, and alot of drinking picnics... Let me know your thoughts!

          I know it's always quieter on weekends but I was wondering where a some of our team have got to? We haven't heard from quite a few people on the list in some time, I hope you are doing okay???

          Tlrgs, I have sunny skies today and the house to myself so I'm going to have some ME time.

          NID, I too find the drink tracker helps. Even before I went AF I used it and it's good to go back and have a look at how far we've come. BTW I just LOVE filling in 0 every morning.... what a buzz!!

          CS, I feel like a right twat!! I forgot to logg out of chat last night and only realised this morning. You are still my buddy and you haven't let me down!!:l I am so grateful that you put my name on the list ..... you led me down a new path in my life and for that I will be eternally grateful. I know you are going through some tough times at the mo, so you just hang in there K!! I too have the same philosophy as Spirit..."everything happens for a reason"

            Hi DeeBee and everyone.
            Sorry but I feel like a failure. I wanted to get my shit together this summer (work on me and AL, or get rid of AL, whatever) and that hasn't happened. I guess I am not as depressed as I was in the spring, so that is something. Not getting this new job, although it would have been crazy impossible, just really got me down. But I'll stop whining about it now!

            As far as Labor Day, it is baby's birthday and our anniversary -- 9 years of wedded bliss (ha ha)! We are having a small family get together, so that will be fun. Something to look forward to!

            Thanks for all of your kind words. Sept. has always been a time of renewal for me (being a teacher="new year") so maybe I should put that energy to use for myself.

              Hi CS04,
              I too work in a school system, and am looking forward to the new school year. I have struggled with alcohol somewhat this summer, but am learning a lot and making satisfactory progress. Not an A grade, probably B-, but lots of improvement.

              It will certainly be easier once I am working full-time. Too much time for me to structure, too many bad habits still lurking.
              My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

                    August Penguins--the end of the month is coming!!!!!

                    Where is everyone from this thread???? Me including!!! Where is our coach, Spirit Girl?? I, for one, started out August with such good intentions, but have not "lived up to my potential". Ha ha. BUT, I have had quite a few AF days, which I attribute to this site, specifically this thread, so that is good!!!! I think a lot of us felt badly because we didn't succeed 100%, but that is WRONG! Please, all you penguins, check in and tell us what has been POSITIVE for August. What are we going to do in September?? I can't believe I am the one reviving this thread----I have been successful less than 50% of the time, but I still feel progress!! How about you all??????:thumbs:

                        I was not AF for August, but it was a really great month. I feel so much more in control than I have in a very long time; even when I did AF months. I hope everyone is fabulous and here's to a kick ass end of the month!!!! Happy Labor Day to all of you in the states.

                          OK Nurse !! Here's your penguin Coach!! I'm ready to march us into September. It's OK that we were not all completely AF for August. We made progress and we're still here!! Let's start September off with a bang!! All I say we do is have more AF days in Sept than we did in August. And slowly but surely we will reach our personal goals!!

                          Who's in ??? Do you want me to start the new thread??

                          A BIG thanks to TLRGS... He IS AF and checks in on us on a regular basis. Thanks for your support!!

                            I'm in, but where is everyone??? There are a couple of threads for starting September AF/mod, so maybe there are too many...?????? I don't want to be too ambitious and fail--my goal is to beat my August days AF. So, I'm in--you don't have to be AF--just working on your goal!!!!
