I think mine does (have a problem), but maybe not to the extent of me. At any rate, he doesn't want to deal with it, soI guess I have to let it go -- although in the past, he has confronted me on "my problem."

Hey, everybody, count me in as well. I have a lot of AF time, but another month would be a good thing! YES! (although I will be AWOL a few days with Mrs. BHOG!)
And to all of you whose spouse drinks even though you don't, here is an idea. find your self a substitue beverage you like, I prefer cranberry juice and soda over ice. When the spouse asks what would you like to drink, say, "my usual" or "my cocktail"
First time I did this Mrs BHOG raised her eyes and said "What? You QUIT!" I said yes, and now my usual is a cranberry juice and soda, 50/50, over ice, please. Since then it is what she fixes me whenever she thinks I need a drink!
And you CAN do this! Take it one day at a time, don't try to do the whole month on Aug 1!
Stay Strong Everyone
BHOGWar isn't working. Let's try Peace!

You can do this!!! There is no better time like the present. I keep going back and forth with smoking too. I figure this is it. I have to stop some time. Why not now? What am I waiting for? It's not like I am going to magically wake up tomorrow and not want a drink or smoke. It is something I have to want deep inside my soul. When I have urges, I need to "listen" to them and figure out where the hell they are coming from.
It's like this empty hole inside of me that needs to be filled. Why do I need to fill it with AL, cigs, caffeine, and/or sugar? Why can't it be filled with love, kindness, compassion, and understanding? Why aren't those things enough?
I just started reading a pretty good memoir called "Lighting Up: How I Stopped Smoking, Drinking, and Everything Else I loved in Life Except Sex" I will let you know how it ends up, but so far it is interesting. She talks about this filling of the hole. After she quit smoking, she started drinking more to fill the void. When her therapist insisted she quit drinking, she started smoking more pot. It even goes into how she was chewing more than 100 pieces of gum a day, just to fill this void. I will let you guys know how it turns out.
Anywho, have a gret rest of the day.Goal 1: Today
Goal 2: Tomorrow

Just a few quotes on fear:
Eleanor Roosevelt:
You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.
James Thurber:
Let us not look back in anger or forward in fear, but around in awareness.
Louisa May Alcott:
I'm not afraid of storms, for I'm learning how to sail my ship.
Marilyn Ferguson:
Ultimately we know deeply that the other side of every fear is a freedom.Goal 1: Today
Goal 2: Tomorrow

Me too, again
Noelle--
I am drinking tonight too, but am determined about starting tomorrow. Let's all try to help each other, OK? We have to pick a time at some point. I have procrastinated enough to learn that it is never going to be easy. But I did 5 days once, and that did get easier already. I just wasn't willing to acknowledge that I could not moderate. I am excited about the group that we have that will be starting tomorrow. I really need a support group that I can check in with daily. We HAVE to do it.

I'm with you. Light in August... Wm Faulkner, wish you coulda joined us! He was another example of a brilliant mind, living in misery with his booze... wonder what he could have done, who he might have been, without it... and how many others can we think of, who allowed their lives to become chaotic and desperate and sad with the alcohol... and how many we will NEVER know of... I refuse to be among them. We have a choice.
I teach, too (just one course, this coming semester). Can't teach at my best, can't be who I truly am, with the alcohol on board, or at least, ALWAYS right around the corner, and on my mind.

Me, two~
Have failed miserably and can not recognize myself from this illusion.
I have already place August in the light of hope, alonside you.
I wonder what it feels like to experience days and days and days of health, where your reflection is precious and fragrant?
Best Wishes to you~:notes:Theme2be
