What's the significance of your forum name
Always felt I was an enigma.... A competitive athlete with an alcohol problem.. Now I know that I am just another fish in the ocean and am not unique by any means.
Funny thing was, at the time I joined I was anti-AA - so why I put in in my name I have no idea. As it turns out I used AA (and MWO) to give myself a new life, so maybe I didn't kill all my brain cells back then after all!Sobriety Date: June 15, 2007 -- "It's not having what you want, It's wanting what you've got...."

What's the significance of your forum name
Hi All,
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread which I just found tonight. The evening I joined, I was looking around the room for clues on what I could use for a name. My eyes landed on my purse, tote bag and laptop case which are all from the Vera Bradley collection. While I love to shop for Vera Bradley accessories, it's also something my girls and I enjoy doing together. That reminded me of all the "doing" that wasn't getting done because my lips were glued to a glass of something. So it was time to lift the head up, put on the lipstick, grab my Vera Bradley bag and get going down sober lane. And it's been such a fun ride.
Vera-b.

Look! I finally have an avatar!
Good grief. Two things for certain that will keep one humble--addiction and computers. I just NOW figured out the whole avatar thing. Duh. I've been trying to download these pics from the web and couldn't get them small enough, yadda, yadda.
Enjoyed this thread! Alley was chosen on a whim based on a word I saw on a document nearby, but it does kinda fit since my life has been double--one life out in the open"on the main street" and one "in the alley." Picked the starfish since I live on the coast and feel a bit beached at the moment. I am so psyched about getting an avatar! :H A peaceful night to all. A

I guess my name sums me up because I feel as if i am wandering through this life a little aimlessly. I also love to travel and have wandered the world and my country (australia) quite alot. I enjoy hitching and going on spontainious journeys which often lead me to unexpected and unplanned places. Maybe one day I will wander into the right place for me where I can feel happy and secure.

When I first came on my name was littlemisshelpme, I was very vulnerable and weak at the time. A lot of members after getting to know me and my "spunk" said I need a more positive name! So there you have it! Meanwhile my mood is never happy!, The irony! :lSunny days, sweeping the, clouds away. On my way, to where the air is sweeeet!!! Can you tell me how to get, how to get to......LOL

What's the significance of your forum name
An avatar is a computer user's representation of himself or herself, whether in the form of a three-dimensional model used in computer games, a two-dimensional icon (picture) used on Internet forums and other communities, or a text construct found on early systems such as MUDs. It is an “object” representing the embodiment of the user. The term "avatar" can also refer to the personality connected with the screen name, or handle, of an Internet user.
Origin
In English, the word has come to mean "an embodiment, a bodily manifestation of the Divine." However, the Sanskrit word Avatara means "the descent of God" or simply "incarnation." The term is used primarily in Hindu texts. For example, Krishna is the eighth avatar (incarnation) of Vishnu the Preserver, whom many Hindus worship as God. The Dasavatara are ten particular "great" incarnations of Vishnu.
Of course my avatars tend to be 'all over the place' and I change them more with my moods than anything else!!!!"Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children." Kahlil Gibran

Mine was simply because I hoped that once, AF, I would begin to experience the "bestlife" I had ever known. The letters that follow are the initials of my children and myself. And yes, my sobriety is allowing me to experience my best life, so far! My avatar- the daffodil - my favorite flower, reminds me of faith and persistence. Always there, under the snow, just waiting, and every spring, faithfully, it appears! Never giving up!"It wasn't all I wanted, but all I could stand!":bigwink: Alcohol free since April 8, 2008
