    Day 1

It was just a regular Grocery Store in the South. I think there was also a Hoggly Woggly if you can believe that!

      Day 1

      Limers,

Here in the States (USA) we had several stores.

      A&P (Atlantic to Pacific)

Piggly Wiggly (we are your downhown store)

      and Kroger.

Today we have many more options.

Piggly Wiggly is for the "back country" demographics like me. I have a Piggly Wiggly, a Hardees (fast food store) and a Dollar General. I love it.

I do drive into town for Publix and Fresh Market. They both have wonderful foods we can eat but I do not drive there but once a couple of weeks. It takes 30+ minutes and LOTS of gasoline to get there.

I live out where when the night comes, my property is BLACK. There is no one here and nothing to call. No pizzas, no Chinese takeout, NOTHING. It is dark, silent, black and incredibly wonderful.

I can "shop ahead" have done that since I was a young girl. Not hard. :-)

      Love,
      Cindi

          Yep. I am blessed.

I live in a "shoebox" of 9 acres. Hawks, owls, hummingbirds, deer and many other animals.

I walk out back in the morning in my t-shirt and undies and no one can see me.

I watch the hummingbirds fight over the feeders and the bushes, I watch the sky awaken and the butterflies hit the bushes.

          It is amazing.

          All here in Alabama.

One of the most "backwards" states in the US. Oh, and my grandchildren's scores on the SATs are higher than most others.

          Umm.

Shouldn't say this. The kids get great schooling, my yard is full of wildlife, and I am happy.

          Damn.

Life could only be better if I could drink and I wouldn't be a drunk.

          Ummm.

          I'll keep abstaining for now.

          Love,

Y'all are making me SO nostalgic! I grew up in the South... Publix was the upscale grocery store, and Piggly Wiggly was more the "regular" one, also Winn Dixie... I live in the midwest now, but under protest (nobody moved me here but myself, of course, long series of circumstances... ). Someday I'll go back South.

As my DIL says, "The Pig Rocks."

                I have to laugh.

Yes the Pig Rocks here. They have great meat and great produce.

                We are lucky.

                    AfM,

                    My backyard is amazing.

                    Truly.

I have butterflies all over the bushes, hummingbird sall over the bushes and the "feeders" and deer and owls and falcons.

                    I can do this.

I will sit here, be quiet and happy.

                    I love it.

                    Love,

Wow, I leave for a couple of hours and come back to two more pages of this thread. You guys are hot. Sorry, limers, that you live in a concrete jungle, but isn't ireland beautiful almost everywhere? Are you close enough to the country to be able to enjoy that beauty. My husband is 100% irish, although he was born in the US. He is a proud man, to be sure. I love to hear you all describe your beautiful locations- having land around you gives you so many options to create beauty around you. That is a good thing. I, myself, look out my window and see a majectic mountain range. It is a 20 minute drive to be hiking in the midst. In the evening, when the sun sets, the mountains become a beautiful shade of pink just before the sun sets. It is breathtaking! Keep on keeping on all! kriger

O2M, I know what takeaway is now. That is too funny. You are trying to fight two beasts at once- I can't even imagine trying that. Yes you are Saint O2M, my dear. Too bad about the chinese food; there will be another time, I'm sure. Or you could call the place and order your own? Right? Chinese doesn't count as "takeaway" because it can be healthy (without MSG, without any fried stuff). If you order carefully it can be good for you. kriger

                                Limers,
I'll stayed tuned, for sure, for that one! Have a good nights rest. This time diff is a trip- I am not even off work yet- I have the whole evening ahead of me, but "no fear", even with all the beer in the frig. I know it won't call my name until I take that first drink. If I were to take that first beer, it would grab me by the throat until I drank ten. That's my method of operation- take none and I'm just fine; take one and I'm dust in the wind. At least I know that about myself. It is the same with nicotine, so I'll get to that some other time-maybe in 30 days. kriger
